Sessions was an album compiled by EMI in 1984 that would be,
just like Anthology, a compilation of unreleased tracks by The Beatles.
When the album was already pressed, packaged
and ready to be shipped to the stores, and the single Leave My Kitten Alone
was already playing on the British radio, the project was cancelled,
mainly due to the legal disagreement
between the remaining Beatles (and Yoko) and EMI only settled years after,
and also because Paul McCartney rejected it.
Although officially unreleased, this album has been bootlegged several times.
The album would comprise the following tracks:
Side One: Side Two:
Come And Get It How Do You Do It?
Leave My Kitten Alone Besame Mucho
Not Guilty One After 909
I'm Looking Through You If You've Got Troubles
What's The New Mary Jane That Means A Lot
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Mailman, Bring Me No More Blues
Christmastime Is Here Again
Single:
Leave My Kitten Alone / Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
George Martin and Geoff Emerick produced new mixes of all songs to this album. In this process, most of the songs were reprocessed and/or edited.
All Sessions tracks ended up on Anthology (except Christmastime..., that is on the Free As A Bird single, in extended form). And most of the times, the Sessions mixes, edited, were used, raising complaints of hardcore Beatlefans that expected for the unedited takes found on bootlegs to be legitimately released.
