Hi, my name is Gary Baker and I'm a torino fanatic. Its a terrible
affliction but I love it!
For any of you fellow 69 torino fanatics out there that might be
interested
in collecting some literature on your favorite year of torino I've got
some
ideas that might or might not interest you. At this time I'm going to
mention a few items that you can find pretty easily yet at a swap meet,
antique mall, flea market, heck even a garage sale!

I've been collecting various lit. since I bought my first 69 Torino back
in
1987. I found my first piece at a swap meet from a guy that specializes
in
factory sales lit., owners manuals, service books, etc. It was a paint
chip chart put out by dupont in 1969 that gave the ford colors, they're
name of colors(champaign gold, aztec auqu, etc.), and order numbers.
Very
handy piece when I went to restore my 69 Cobra back to the original color
(candyapple red).

The following is a list of some of my pieces and a description of them if
you would like to collect them also. It's almost as much fun as
collecting
parts for these fabulous cars. And most of the time a heck of a lot
cheaper!

We'll start with a relatively easy piece to find and that is the "Value
Book". Its was a piece that was a handout in a Ford dealership. It's
gold
and blue in color and 8" X 4 1/2" big. On the front cover it has
lettering
that reads...... FORD'S 1969 GOING THING VALUE BOOK A TREASURY OF
IDEAS AND VALUES YOU'LL WANT TO REFER TO AGAIN AND AGAIN. It also has a
picture of the Ford singers on the front cover. Inside you'll find
advertisements and coupons for general merchandise to buy throught Ford.
There also is a sweepstakes offer to win quote " 5 Grand Prizes 1969
Ford
LTD, 15 2nd place prizes of 1969 Cobra's, and 25 1969 Mustang Mach 1's.

It consists of 35 pages and is a really neat piece to display and look
at.

Another piece I'd like to talk about is the 1969 color mailer. This is a
relatively hard piece to find. It was sent out from individual
dealerships
to prospective customers comparing the torino to the other automakers
cars.
It is roughly 8"X11" is size and is black and white on the front cover.
On a black backdrop is the names of the other makes of cars in comparison
in block colored letters. At the very bottom of the cover is a slogan
reading....."ALL THESE CARS HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM...".
Inside you'll find color pictures of Torino/Fairlanes and a description
on
why the competition is not up to snuff against the Torino's. On the back
is
a chart showing all 16 styles of the Torino/Fairlane/Cobra line.
With another slogan saying..."The only problem in Fords long
Torino/Fairlane/Cobra line is deciding which one to take...".

If any of you Fairlane/Torino fanatics would like to see more of this
type
of news, please e-mail Mike Moser and I'll get some more out probably
once
or twice a month. I'd also like to share some of the plastic model kits
that were available and promo cars, diecast, and cereal promos that were
available.

Happy Literature Hunting, Gary Baker
