The IRC Section

For those of you who don't know, IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It is a large network up internet servers that makes of the broadest, oldest and most simple internet chat network. It's not a company, it's a network like the World Wide Web or newsgroups. Subjects range far and wide and you can even form your own chat channels.

IRC is divided into many "sub-networks" which are links of servers that form a single IRC Network. For example, DALnet is very popylar. If you're in "Channel X" and logged into any DALnet server, you're also effectively in "Channel X" in every DALnet server. Same goes for UnderNet, BeyondNet, etc.

Each server has thousands of "Chat Channels" that users have created. Below are several software programs that allow you at access IRC and a list of some of my favorite channels.

I'm usually using the nick ChrisReid.
