Fourth
Album Finished
By
September 27th, the yet untitled fourth album of the band, was finished
in London, after two months of mixing and mastering, the final mixing labour
was done by Mike Platnikoff (who also engineered To the faithful departed).
A realease date has been set to February 1999, and a new single (which
has not yet been selected) in January will precede the album's release.
Right now the band is in Limerick rehearsing for future live performances.
Mike's
wedding
On
Monday July the 6th the wedding of the last remaining bachelor of The Cranberries,
Mike Hogan, to his sweetheart of the past eight years, Siobhán O'Carroll,
caused a traffic hold up in Limerick's Athlunkard Street.
Noel, was best man. Mike was dressed in full morning suit and arrived punctually at the church in the company of his groomsmen. An hour earlier the groom and his party of brother, Noel and groomsmen Ger Staunton, John Alymer, Dave Griffin and Dermot Rice had gathered at O'Driscoll's Lounge in Corbally for pre-ceremony refreshments.
The bride, accompanied by her father, Garda Sergeant Tom O'Carroll, upheld tradition by arriving 21 minutes later than the appointed time in a while Rolls Royce limousine. Her dress was in the style of the old 1920s movies and designed by Irish designer Catherine Morrison from Belfast. The bride was attended by five bridesmaids: her two sisters Máiréad and Stephanie, former neighbour Laurie Lawler, wife of Cranberry drummer Fergal; one of Mike's sisters Jacqueline Hogan and her cousin Caroline Ryan.
Dolores
O'Riordan, arrived at the church in a 24-foot white stretch limousine,
accompanied by husband Don Burton. Fergal's arrival almost overshadowed
that of the bride. Walking in single file, the drummer, whose hair has
been dyed a bright yellow, marched into the church accompanied by four
minders, two on each side.
Following the ceremony, which was celebrated by a friend of the Hogan family, Fr Fred Walters of New Jersey and originally from Thomondgate, a reception was held for 260 guests at Dromoland Castle.
The couple will honeymoon for two weeks in Marbella and Majorca in Spain and on their return will reside in the new house they have purchased in the northside of the city.
Recording
of the Fourth
Album
The cranberries recorded
part of their fourth album in the balmy south of France at Mireval Studios,
they got there on May 3rd, and were there for a month and a half
period working with Ben Fenner (producer and engineer with Laurie Anderson,
David Bowie, James, The kinks). The band is aiming to lay down a total
of 20 songs, some of them will be used as B-sides of the album, as for
the first days of june, they had already recorded 10 songs. They will finish
the recording of the album in London where it also will be mixed. So the
working spell will be of about two months, plus mixing, mastering and all
that stuff until the material is ready.
What's
On My
Mind
That's the name of the track
that supposedly would be included on the soundtrack for the X-files movie
(already released under Elektra Records), but could never made its way
to the album, it was recorded during the last week of April at Windmill
Lane Studios in Dublin, co-produced by The cranberries and Ben Fenner.
It's possible it will appear on the band's fourth album, or maybe as a
B-side of it.
Go
Your Own
Way
The
lastest song recorded by the cranberries, is now avaible on Legacy:
a tribute to Flletwood Mac's Rumours (from Atlantic Records/WEA international).
The song was recorded during February 1997, and was co-produced by Bruce
Fairbairn and Dolores. The version is supposed to have been made only by
Dolores and Noel together. It's very close to the former version of the
song. On this album you can also find songs by Shawn Colvin, Jewel, Duncan
Sheik, matchbox20, The Corrs, Elton John and the Goo goo dolls among others.

Dolores
gives birth in Toronto
On Sunday November 22nd
Dolores, gave birth to her first child, a son, weighing seven lbs.,
six ozs., and named Taylor Baxter Burton. Married to a Canadian, Don Burton
(formerly tour manager for one time Craberry tour mates Duran Duran), and
the couple have a home in Peterborough ON, as well as in Kerry Ireland,
where they alternate to live.
She became a mother in the
midst of The Cranberries' work on their fourth studio album, which is expected
to be released later next year.
Laying
down demos at Metalwork Studios
The Cranberries left Toronto
in late september after completing demos at Metalworks in Mississauga ON,
the state-of-the-art studio owned by ex Triumph member Gil Moore.
The band recorded a handful
of new songs over a two-and-a-half week period. The sessions were self-produced
by The Cranberries and engineered by Britain's Ben Fener (James).
"We
were thrilled to have them here," says studio owner Alex Andronache. "They
did it in Studio 1, our Neve room, which is the same room used by David
Bowie, Sass Jordan, Treble Charger, Alannah Myles, King Cobb Steelie and
Patricia Conroy. I really couldn't tell you anything about the material
`cause I didn't get a chance to hear that much. It's The Cranberries."
Andronache reveals that Dolores
was seven months pregnant during the recordings.
No word from The Cranberries
record label, A&M/Island, in Canada whether these Metalworks tracks
will surface on the band's next album or if there's a projected release
date.
