GOD OF THE STONE "s/t"
Classic HM mixed with some trash influences, also there are some psichedelic doom parts in the 70's
style.Vocal goes from supired to screamed one, but never guttural. The production is superb and G.O.T.S.
are all good musicians. All our readers know which I'm not into this kind of bands, but I admitt if a band
is really able to create its own sound and style, and G.O.T.S. does it! So I can envite all the fans of this
genre to check it out! (RS)

DESPERATE CORRUPTION/ ENEMY SOIL split 7" bovine
Yeah, I really dig all the splits with bands who play different music. DESPERATE CORRUPTION comes
from japan but their sound is completely influenced by the classic new york brutal death school with blast
beats and some slam riffs. Two potent and technical songs in the vein of PYREXIA and DYING FETUS,
although they mantain an own style. ENEMY SOIL offer to us 3 songs of sublime powerviolence, great
social lyrics for this trio from virginia.
Both the bands kick asses, so if you are interested it would be better try to protect your ass with a pillow!

GORE BEYOND NECROPSY "faecal noise holocaust"
7" icy illusion
Ok, after having listened to this EP for many times I can affirm without any doubt two things: Firstly, the
japanese scene rules in the world with cool act such as G.B.N., C.S.S.O., C.U.M., UNHOLY GRAVE,
CARCASS GRINDER and so on; but G.B.N. are absolutely the most extreme of these bands. I hear many
bands that define themselves "grind/noise" but few are able to create a sound as confuse and sick as
G.B.N. do, they mix a cyber grind holocaust (that remind me a little the last MEAT SHITS releases) with
a great noise attack ala WHITEHOUSE. This EP is also highly recommended 'coz it's really long and
sound quality is excellent. However, if you have a limited music view, this stuff it's not for you. (RS)

SPECTRUM FEST Comp. CD relapse
If you are not into the pennsylvania's drunk label RELAPSE this comp. could be a good occasion to check
out some of their great bands. I'll divide this review in two parts: one for the death/grind bands and one
for RELEASE (RELAPSE's noise sub-label). About the death/grind side I suggest EXIT 13, both the 30s'
sound version and the classic blast beats. BRUTAL TRUTH offers to us 2 tracks taken from their last
release, sperimental grind/HC. Now it's time for the migthy MORTICIAN, one of the sickest band of this
planet. Two brutal attacks from their full-lenght, if you dig deep vocals this is your paradise. This CD let
me know HUMAN REMAINS (which unfortunately has broken up some months ago). Noise guitars meet
potent american death/grind! Also out for RELAPSE there are a grunge band known as XYSMA and
NIGHTSTICK, 70s' doom a la early CATHEDRAL. I'm disappointed only by AMORPHIS, which has
commercialized their sound a lot, also the doomer MORGION are nothing of exceptional.
Now it's the RELEASE time, and I start only saying that they give to us some hot acts such as PICA
(japanese noise), BASTARD NOISE (MAN IS THE BASTARD's side project) which create noise with a
really unusual sound; the tribal noise ambient by DEUTSCH NEPAL which remind me some old SCORN
release. To conclude we have Mick Harris' most dark and low project: LULL. The only band of the noise
session I do not like is TRIAL OF THE BOW. Sure one of the best comp. Out now by the most open-mind
label around. (RS)

PAGAN LORN "black wedding"
Actually tons of band decide to self-produced their debut CD or MCD and, only for the high cost they
have had, I admire them. But sometimes on my mailbox appears CD of bands which sound too simplistic
and incomplete, not ready for a full-lenght. P.L. are part of these bands. They play a mix of doom/death
with many melodies. I supposed that this kind of music must give you feelings, emotions ect, but, this CD
simply annoy me, it's one of the most boring work I've ever heard. So, I suggest to valutate better your
music before release a CD. (RS)

COLD STILL EARTH comp. CD frozen dawn
Six US brutal death bands united into this CD for over one hour and with 16 tracks. This compilation is
produced by the Frozen Dawn Rec, a new label owned by SHREDDED CORPSE, which opens this CD
with four death/grind songs mixed with some HC influences. I don't like the guitar sound, it's too
"swedish" for their genre. Then it's time for REGURGITATION with two songs taken from their debut
demo, but re-recorded with the new singer and a new bassist. Nothing is changed, except most deep
vocals. Now is INHUMAN's time: too banal and repetitive, they're one of the most boring band I've ever
heard. About SKINLESS the speech changes: they bring in my room a well structured and potent NY
death metal, cool shit, I love them! The fifth band is DEADEN, absolutely the best band of this comp.
Two sick death/grind tracks with a great riffs variety and tons of cool samples. UMBILICAL
STRANGULATION closed with three immature songs that show me they're a young band which need
more experience. (RS)

LIVIDITY "fetish for the sick" ablated
Yeah, the ill-noize sickos are coming back with a full-lenght album which contains 11 tracks, and it is one
of the coolest release I reviewed since now! This is the first recording with the new bassist Mike Smith;
now the vocals are done by the two guitarists. If you had been impressed by their demo "rejoice in
morbidity" you must know that "fetish..." crushes it in any way.
All the work is seasoned with tons of sick but hilarous samples (Hey Dave, I want a hot yellow pussy!).
LIVIDITY kills, all the gore death/grind heads should check it out! (RS)

CEPHALIC CARNAGE "for tuitous oddity"
I know nuthin' about this band, Dave from LIVIDITY dubbed me it after "fetish for the sick", so I don't
know if is a self-production or what label has put it out. It contains 6 songs of really chaotic noise grind,
but with a brutal death sound. It's a strange band that leave me perplexed...Music is cool but I'd prefer it if
the sound wasn't so obscure. (RS)

SLOUGH/GONKULATOR split 7" fudgeworthy
Another cool EP for my collection of 7". This time we have two filthy grind bands both from US.
SLOUGH opens with three tunes of goregrind with a little death metal influences in the songwriting.
Sound is really clean but also very powerful; good the drum-machine programming and the sick vocals
style. The second track hasn't vocals done by the singer, but only a long fun and sick sample which
continues during all the song. GONKULATOR are a really chaotic band which features some PSYCHO
members. They called their music black noise but G. has nothing in common with norvegian bands, apart
a certain hatred for the christians. They play a really chaotic noise-sludgecore that remaind me the
japanese noisers SENSELESS APOCALYPSE with a different sound. Each band is cool, so indulge
yourself to the sick perversions of SLOUGH and to the religious intollerance of GONKULATOR.... (RS)

DISTRUZIONE "endogena" omargru
Take the SEPULTURA's "arise" guitar work, the vocalist of the spanish HC/trash band SPEREETH and
lots of HC tempo and you could image what DISTRUZIONE is doing. Something of potent done by good
musicians. Trash/HC scene is a lot commercialized in this period but D. does it in a modern way and with
personal style, maybe for the old school death approch they have. Vocals are in italian and that sounds
strange but also interesting. Good debut full-leght even if there's still something to improve. (RS)

DECEASED "fearless undead machines" relapse
Hmmm, artwork and title seem interesting, I've never listened to their previous material; so I'm really
interested to hear this promo-CD. Just some seconds to put it on the CD player and I'll start the review.
(An hour, 8 minutes and 7 seconds longer...) Oh my god, I'm totally shocked! Sorry for my ignorance, but
I was expected a death/grind in the best Relapse tradition. Well, D. are nothing of that. Definitely they're
not a commercialized band; their HM is into the 80s' metal style, some riffs remind me my old period
where I were totally into IRON MAIDEN. But D. doesn't rip-off the maiden, during years they have
created their own style (as the bio says) which has most raw vocals and solid slow parts. Actually I ain't no
more into this stuff, but surely I regard DECEASED a valid band. I suggest to chech it out to all the metal
freaks. (RS)

BEYOND FEAR "haunted by visions of a third atrocity" utopian
Hot stuff is playing now into my CD player, it's the debut MCD of this three pieces from england which
contains only 3 tracks, but each one is at least 8 minutes longer. Fortunately B.F. has nothing in common
with the british black scene, they're totally into OASIS, BLUR ect...No, be quite, I'm joking! Stout
grindish death based on great killer drumming, blasting guitar riffs and deep but understable vocals, all
dressed by a dark sound. Musically they're OK, but songs are toooo long for my taste; the second one is
more than 12 minutes longer! All that make B.F. sounds repetitive and tracks loss power. (RS)

EXTREMIST comp. Cd extremist
Another CD comp. of underground bands, this time it's out through Extremist recs, a new label owned by
DROGHEDA's members. Bands featured are 16 with 21 songs, their style goes from death metal to
grind/noise. About LIVIDITY, GONKULATOR and TON read their reviews elsewhere; other cool bands
featured here are HEMDALE with three tracks from their split with EXHUMED, MORTICITE with the
grind/HC "train of thought", potent song, men, but sound totally sucks! Awesome track by pensylvannia's
black/deathers INSATANITY and furious grind/noise/death/HC of "maggot spawn" by DROGHEDA.
About the others, well, it's the first time I listen to them. I've been amazed by the raw and filthy mix of
grind/death with HC elements by ENTROPY, good technical death/grind by ABOMINANT, powerful
death with a dark and deep sound by IMPETUS. Last but definitely not least SPINEGRINDER, the most
extreme band which is featured into this CD with GONKULATOR. Three industrial/grind sonic attacks
with a sick sound; I suggest to check out their tape out through Extremist. Actually Extremist is one of the
most extreme label around, support them buying all their releases, 100% guaranteed!! (RS)

BRUTAL TRUTH "sounds of the animal kingdom" relapse
What could I say? I'm a devote follower of Kevin Sharp & co. from their debut "extreme conditions..."
and, since today, I've never been disappointed by anyone of their release. "sounds of animal kingdom"
continues the BRUTAL TRUTH evolutive process, from the excellent death/grind of their primodial era
B.T. are now more sofisticate, but one word only is necessary to describe them: Extreme. Yeah, "extreme"
is the key to understand what B.T. is doing. Sound is similar to "kill trend suicide" but musically it's
detached, it's more evolved. They mix noise, HC, grind, industrial and a little classic metal (listen to
"dead smart", you'll be totally shocked!) with an incredible precision, billions of tempo changes and at an
astonishing speed. Sharp's vocals have never been so animal-like, and I fuckin' dig them!
Buy it...love it! (RS)

TODAY IS THE DAY "temple of the morning star" relapse
Fourth album for this threesome out through the most extreme label around: Relapse. The 17 songs
contained are a mixture of metal, industrial, noise and HC, but with a very psychedelic, cold and surgical
sound. They alternate powerful sluggish riffs, that seem to be taken from a ZENI GEVA album, with
psychedelic rock atmospheres (something like an uncommercial SMASHING PUMPKINS version).
Vocals remind me the ones contained into SCORN debut "vae solis". Well, surely a great and mature
album, but I suggest it only to open-minded persons. (RS)

CENOTAPH "voluptuosly minced" hammer muzik
Oh men, after the italian and the mexican ones now we have the turkish CENOTAPH. I don't think that
C. is a cool name, so I haven't yet understood why there are so many bands with this monicker. Anyway,
musically C. kills. This album contains 8 technical brutal death/grind tracks really influenced by early
SUFFOCATION. They define themselves "goregrind", but in my opinion, as I said above, C. is a classic
brutal death band. So, nothing of original, but surely this is high quality stuff for all the brutal freaks!

ATARI TEENAGE RIOT "the future of war" digital hardcore
Here we have some killer stuff from the techno/industrial german scene. I saw A.T.R. on stage, let me say
again that they kill!!! 15 tracks where extreme noise parts are mixed with techno/gabber beats, creating
something of really potent and chaotic. There are three kind of screamed vocals, from the male ones to the
female one; lyrics, which are into the social style, are something of strong and interesting. If you are
closed to metal only, stay away from them. But I can say with no dubt that they could be the elettronic
cyber version of the most sick goregrind band you know. Check it out!! (RS)

GOTHIC "brutal conditions for extreme alchemy"
5 songs MCD for 15 minutes of music. This MCd have the usual defect of the european brutal stuffs: the
guitar sound is too poor, there's not comparison with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS and so on,
so it's only a mediocre/good MCD, with a very good artwork. (MS)

CATASEXUAL URGE MOTIVATION
"encyclopedia of serial murders" Deliria prod.
After months and months of waiting, I have finally received CUM's debut full lenght. I'm a little
disappointed by the slowly parts which are too melodic for my tastes. However, each gore-grind head will
come crazy with this filthy, stinky & insane shit! For whom isn't familiar with the Kanai brothers (cousin
or whatever !?!) they have a putrid vocals style, a drum machine programming which is faster than Beep
Beep and Willy the Coyote united, a classic grind songwriting with an obscure and sick sound and an
unbounded passion for serial killers. Not as cool as GORE BEYOND NECROPSY but definetly a discrete
release. (RS)

UNCREATION "uncreation" Black dragon/Repulse
Oh-oh, hot stuff is now playing into my Cd player, it's a foursome from Espana called UNCREATION.
But.... are we sure they're from Spain ? If you listen to them without knowing the name of the band, you
could think that is the new PYREXIA release ! Yeah, the NY death school influence is unquestionable. U.
kills with raging vocals, unstoppable drumming, cool bass lines and a guitar sound heavy as a 300 Kg fat
guy! Absolutely the best brutal band out from europe during 1997.
