Tibet

Getting to Tibet was a 'mare. Taking a bus from Golmud to Lhasa was... a uniques experience.. I was expecting minimul facilities - candles for lighting, hardly any electricity, a place barely touched by the west with little sign of foreigners...

When I got there, getting off the bus I met about 30 foreigners in the first hour, internet cafes all along Beijing Donglu and a road full of guesthouses. One of which was advertising the nights movie. It was more advanced than some of the places I had been in China!

Having said that, I wasn't disappointed one bit. The people tended to be very nice (more so outside Lhasa), the scenery was breathtaking, and there was just something about the place that was out of this world.
