The experiments described here incorporate dangerous voltages which
if not handled correctly are lethal.
Any attempt to recreate what is shown here is at your own risk, I do not
encourage you to try any of this and I will not be held responsible
for your actions, even though I will feel sorry if one of
you gets killed trying these stunts.
Expeiments in High Voltage require a soild knowledge in
electricity and electronics, as well as experience in working
with high voltage. If you don't know 100% what you're doing
DON'T FUCK WITH ELECTRICITY,
THERE IS NO SECOND CHANCE
Ok, now since this is over let's get to the interesting part.
How the hell did I get into this ?
Have you ever gone to those science exhibitions and seen all of these
wierd things, have you ever asked yourself how they work ?
After visiting such a place, and viewing all the cool sutff done with electricity
I had to try it for myself.
Plasma Globe (Eye of the Storm)
My first project in High Voltage, a Plasma Globe is one of the most interesting
things to build in this field.
The consturction of a plasma globe is quite simple and straightforward.
This is also quite a safe project to build, it runs off a low voltage power
supply isolated from the wall outlet with a step-down transformer. The most
you could get from this is a nasty shock from the high voltage. I don't think this
could kill you. (But please don't catch me on this).
Toys like this can be bought in shops for about 100$, they're small and run off
a small transformer stuck on your wall outlet. The size of the dome is usually
between 3" and 5" diameter.
Building one for yourself allows you to break a few rules and build larger, more
powerful globes (At your own risk).
I decided to do one for myself, here are the specifications :
Globe size : 12" diameter
Low voltage supply : 30V at 4 amps.
High voltage supply : 10,000V
Page under construction, more to come....
