Sonic Youth is one of my all time favorite bands along with the Pixies, Lush, and Curve. There live shows are what makes them so good. I have seen them play live in six different cities and have only been disapointed with the Atlanta show for "Thousand Le ves". T he show would have been ok had it not been for Kim getting upset with the crowd and leaving early. There best albums are Daydream Nation and Cicone Youth (Thurston covering Madonna Is hilarious)everyone should check it out.

top trip, mate - keep up the good work. i don't know if you received the thing i might accidentallly just have sent you, but i'd better say it all again just in case: heard of "all tomorrow's parties" in england where the youth played this easter? they dissapointed the crowd but were mint, so the only issue arising is one of public entertainment ethics rather than were they good or not. anyway - this will sound pants but i have to say it anyway: there was this bloke, alistair, who is the world's biggest sonic youth fan - he's more of a fan than me, so... but anyway, i didn't give him my number for one reason or another and it's weird but i keep smelling him on stuff. so that's not the problem, anyway. the problem is this: i had a dream the other night that he got eaten alive by the youth's kim, except her name was kirsten moore (it's the name of this bulemic girl in my college). i ca 't stop worrying about him now - he was all fragile and stuff - and i'm trying to find him the only way i can think of - through the youth - so i can get "closure" as you yanks say and concentrate on my bloody exams. please help me by telling me where i an put a notice that he might see. sorry to off-load my problem on to you, but it could be fun to try and find him. what am i talking about? this isn't the first thing i tried - sorry for wasting your time, if you feel i have. hopefully hear from you soon even if it's just sonic youth info, thanks for your time, catch, moll

"Once upon a time there was a fellow named Bill Mooney who ran a T-shirt company called Tannis Root. Bill had heard of this really cool sequencer called a Groovebox. Sonic Youth are truly unique, and even though their sound is distinctive, it is never tedious. Upon hearing of the recent theft from the band I was appalled and saddened that the means for these important modern artists to ply their craft have been uncere oniously "crowbar'd" from them while they rested. I hope this event does not stand in the way of creativity or the will to create, because although this is very disheartening, equipment can be replaced - maybe not exactly, but barring the return of the ac ual stuff, there's not much of an alternative. If the band reads this, keep on rockin' in the free world and know that we're rooting for you! If the site owner reads this, nice site and thank you for allowing us this forum!

I'm not gonna write about how I first heard a great band called Sonic Youth, but instead, I'm gonna take the time to make a plea for any one in the cali area to keep a look out for Sonic Youths stolen equipment. ALL their equipment, Thurstons guitars, Le s guitars, Kims, bass;s, Steves drums, guitar toos, were stolen July 5, 1999, from their rented Ryder truck, that night they played a show with borrowed instruments. I recently got 2 electric guitars stolen from my trunk on Ave. A & East 2nd in NYC, & while It hurt, it was onle 2 guitars, I have experienced the loss of what Sonic Youth has but at .002% of what they are feeling. i think yr page is kinda lame. not much on it. well at least it is easy to navigate thru it. i saw S.Y. on oct. 1 '98 and they were fantastic. It was at the Metro in Sydney Australia and the support band was MENSTRUATION SISTERS (extremely good) you can maybe get one of their cd's at www.redeye.com.au an indie record store in sydney HIGHLY RECOMENDED just to look at the stuff they have. FUCK I HATE ADVERTISING!

When I was in seventh grade, I went swimming at the Y. There were all these kool kids there with long hair and a little portable tape player. They used it some to amplify their voices with a radio-schak microphone, but then they stopped and put in Dirty I thought Swimsuit issue was the damnest bestest thing I'd ever heard. The security guards told the kids to knock the noise off. Went out to Newbury's and bought Dirty. been a fan ever since.

This group, for us, is the most important tendence in rock'n'roll in the 80's and 90's. Albuns, just like Daydreamnation, anagrama, goo demos, are better than every other underground band. The guitars (Lee and Thurston) created the best feedbacks and supersonic riffs since Patt Methenny, and the Kim's sexual power (in her songs, lyrics and bass) consists in the coolest thing in the last years of Rock'n'Roll history.
