July

I've just just come back from the mighty Glastonbury festival! And wasn't Mansuns performance outstanding.......NOT! After a fantastic start to the gig technical problems forced the band to leave the stage three times, the third being the final straw. I'm not yet sure whether the problems were Glastonburys or Mansun's own technical staff......

Apparently the power to Paul amp was being cut off, possibly a problem with the Glastonbury powers supply, which had been causing problems all that day. Mansun left, leaving an ugly crowd and possibly making a few enemies, as not anouncements were made, not even from the band on stage apart from a muffled 'sorry...power..mumble..mumble..cut off..mumble mumble' from Paul. A few of us die hards in the front two rows hung around hoping they'd come back on, passing the time by sing various Beatles tracks and an awful rendition of Wide Open Space. Ah well.

Mansun are going to be re-releasing some of their best recorded material.....the b-sides to their first couple of EPs. Various tracks from ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR EPs will be released in a box set on AUGUST 26th. I'll be getting it, even though I probably have all the tracks on CD anyway. :oP

Another Mansun release is scheduled for JULY 28th. Mansun and 808State have recorded a remix of Mansun's second release, Skin Up Pin Up, for a soundtrack album of the soon to be released movie Spawn.

April

I've moved from 18th to 12 in the Euphoric Music Chart this week! That means I'm catching up Mark who is currently at number 10!

I've heard that Mansun may be facing legal action from their taxloss stunt!

Someone from the domain name @vax1.mankato.msus.edu sent me an email with a few questions which I can give some answers to. Unfortunately her email address was incorrect in the email and I couldn't reply. Mail me back with your correct email address!

This page has come in at number 18 in the Euphoric Music Webpage chart, a chart based on the number of hits a site gets. Check it out

Mansun caused scenes of havok in Liverpool Street Station on 17th of April. During the filming of the Taxloss video, their 6th single. One of the band members stood and chucked £25000 into the crowd. This was taken from the electronic telegraph

Commuters filmed in cash frenzy
By Carole Cadwalladr

FOR the commuters rushing through Liverpool Street station in London yesterday it was a moment of pure fantasy: a man, armed with £25,000, started throwing handfuls of cash to anybody in reach.
In a matter of minutes a crowd had gathered and within half an hour all £25,000 had gone.
The catch? The results were being secretly filmed for a pop video by the band Mansun to promote their record, Tax Loss.
Clive Fraylich, who saw the incident, said: "All I saw was a guy dressed in a black bomber jacket throwing all this money. It was absolute madness. One guy pushed an old lady as he tried to grab hold of some money."
A spokesman for Parlophone, the band's record company said: "It was a comment on human greed. People were on their way to well-paid jobs yet they still all wanted something for nothing."

Good old Mansun.

Februrary

The real Story. Apparently, 300 7"s of Skin Up Pin Up which were considered lost, were found the other day in a cupboard. (???) Andy from Andys Records Aberystwyth was offered 30 of them and has decided that the fan should have them. They are selling for about £5-6. Contact Andy Davis for more details :)

I recieved a rather garbled email today from someone at Andy's Records Aberystwyth saying that 300 more copies of Skin Up Pin Up have been pressed on white vinyl. Available somewhere *i dunno!* for about £5-6

Attack of the Grey Lantern, Mansun debut album has entered the UK album charts at no.1 knocking Blur's new album, Blur, from the top spot.

Mansun's latest EP, 'She makes my nose bleed' has entered the top 40 at number 9! CONGRATULATIONS

Attack of the grey lantern, Mansun's first LP, is released this month on the 17th. BUY IT! Parlophone, not ones for blowing their own trumpet (honest guv'), reckon its a remarkable debut album.....the most assured and best debut album since Radiohead's "Pablo Honey". Melody Maker have been saying that it is the best debut since 'Definitely Maybe'. Well, considering I really hate Oasis, it should blow em out of the water ;o)
