hey. my name is ben mulligan. this is my website. it in itself is about me really, but this is more describing me i suppose. i dont think you can really ever totally know anyone, but i like to express myself through this page. i think the best way to get to know someone is to talk with them a lot. it doesnt matter about what. just talking. but still then theres a lot you dont know. and you also need to see how much they can take before they'll get in a fist fight with someone. but yeah, back to me. i live in a town called milton in ontario canada. its really quiet here. im a pretty opinionated person. i like to have my say on things, even if i dont know anything about them. im kind of an artistic person i suppose, i like the arts and things like that and i like to draw, but im not like a "hey-lets-go-to-the-art-museum" kind of guy. i like things that are poetic, but i dont really like poetry. anyways, seeing as how i seem to be going into a likes/dislikes thing, ill be lazy and make a table.

likes: pizza, meatball subs, hockey, Memento, arguing, music, singing along, dancing when nobodies watching, white socks with grey bottoms, the weakerthans, drawing, beaches, fall, the colour orange, remembering things, night time, skipping stones, bowling, rollerblading, fields of wheat, vegetables dislikes: clingy girls, religion, love, baseball, people afraid to say what they think, racism, stereotypical chat room people, reading things that suck, winter, detroit, waking up, wearing a suit, everything about avril lavigne, taco bell, fruit, chinese food

anyways, if theres anything else you really want to know, or something like that, you can always contact me through various ways. also, i have some pictures of me just because, and no place where it would be relevant to put a link to that has popped up yet, so i'll just toss in the link to it here.

My Town
Milton is a very plain, boring town. theres 30,000 people who live here, and im pretty sure most of them want to live somewhere else. but strangely i can't even see myself living anywhere else. i hate this town, but i love it. i guess kind of because its all i really know. its quiet and peaceful. It's like a town from a fifties sitcom. That's exactly what it is. Its really quiet here. There isn't really any crime or gangs or things like that. You can walk the streets at 4 in the morning completely safe. You might see a couple people, and some people driving around. one thing i really hate about milton though is it's complete lack of diversity. i would say over 95% of the population is white and middle-class. people here are pretty close-minded. abortion is wrong. gay people are looked down upon. its like living in the past. an x-rated video store recently opened in town, and the local paper (the canadian champion) was filled with people writing letters about how this is "corrupting our children" and "making them into rapists" for weeks. i was reading the champion earlier today, and someone wrote an letter about how when gays won the right to get married in july or something and she says she heard all kinds of "derogatory comments accompanied by looks of disgust and contempt". anyways, the town is small, and theres nothing to do here. our mall is a joke. theres no bowling alleys, or movie theatres, or anywhere to go really. its not like the town can't afford these things. theres a casino in town, so theres literally millions of dollars in taxes off of that alone each year. theres a lot of construction going on around town, with hundreds of new houses being built, so soon the population is going to change dramatically. hopefully the town will with it.

My Job
I work at Harveys. its a burger place. I actually like the job. i don't really have to do much, i get little wussy shifts, and the people are nice. It's my first real job, not counting crap like delivering papers when i was little or filing things at my dad's office. i can't believe how much i like working. the best part is getting paid. i remember when i got my first paycheck. i was jumping for joy and crap like that. haha! i still havent spent it all yet, a month later. i dont really spend much money. but when i have money im pretty generous with it. i dont really buy myself things other than food. but yeah, back to my job. I usually work the 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm (little three hour shifts) and if were not busy, i get to go early too, so i could have like a 2 hour shift. all i have to do is garnish the hamburgers and crap like that, and over the three hours i have to make sure the dining room stays clean, vinegar the tables once, clean the bathrooms once (which i do a half-assed job of), make sure all the salt and pepper and straws are stocked, and clean the windows if i have time. i can do all of these jobs in 30 minutes if i dont have to do anything else. one time i went to clean one of the bathrooms and there was no toilet paper (there were 4 rolls in it before), no paper towels, and there was a bottle of captain jacks behind the toilet. and one time i made the toilet overflow by accident (at the end of my shift too). so my job is pretty easy. sure it's repetitive, but hey. i dont care. and sure i only get minimum wage. but it doesnt matter. i dont spend much money. through this entire summer i've only spent $130. and it was pretty much all on food, or giving friends money. one thing i dont like about my job though is i have to wear my hair in a pony tail. i really dont like it, so i figure i'll cut my hair off, just so i dont have to. yeah. thats my job.

My School
i go to a catholic school. i wouldnt really consider myself catholic. im not religious. Anyways, my school is called Bishop Reding. i'm going into grade 12 this september, and my grade will be the first ones in ontario that graduate in grade 12 instead of having another year for OAC. first line of the new curriculum. if you know about the curriculum then you know what im talking about. if you dont live in ontario you probably have no idea what im talking about. all the teachers call us "the guniea pigs" cuz everything is being tested on us. well yeah. i go to a catholic school. we have to wear uniforms. the guys have to wear black dress pants and either a white dress shirt or the grey sweatshirt or white golf shirt, or some other crap. but there has to be the logo on the shirt somewhere. the girls wear the same, but they can wear kilts instead of pants. oh dear god how i love kilts. i know that sounds sexist but hey, shut up. im a guy and im 16. people wear the uniform pretty sloppily, but as long as the shirt is tucked in the teachers dont care. my school is pretty plain though. there arent any gangs or anything and there arent too many fights (fights usually start with someone saying: "i challenge you to fisticuffs!", okay well not really). umm... yeah. theres nothing special about my school.
