Manhattan •
This was my entry to an online contest amongst
users of the Korg MS2000 synth. Every sound used in Manhattan
was created using the MS2000.
Sunday •
Written after a dry spell in jazz. Click
here for a lead sheet.
Opening and Chase •
Two sequences written for the indie movie Ain't
No Phase. In the opening credits, a man is murdered after
winning a game of chess. The second clip is from a car chase which
ends in a fist fight.
Pessegueiro •
If Scott Joplin had been born in Brazil, this
is what his Peacherine Rag would've sounded like. Actually,
almost any ragtime tune can be turned into a "chorinho"
just by syncopating the left hand. I should write an essay about
that.
I Do •
This is the instrumental (demo) version, with
a horn playing the melody. The lyrics, not featured here, were
written by Dar Bradley. The original recording, without the horn,
was a backing track for Dar's sister's wedding. She said almost
everyone was in tears when the song was done (I love that part
- hope it's a good thing!)
Ashfield Theme •
Written as a suggestion for Aric McKeown's Ashfield
Online comic strip, but then I realized it was much too
"cartoony" for his style. Still, a nice little theme.
Tammy Amis •
(c) Mark LeBeau, All Rights Reserved. I played
the organ and synth accordion parts featured in this song, as
well as the piano solo. Also featured are Mark LeBeau (vox, guitar),
Matt Belz (bass), Ryan Dodge (drums). Produced by Chopper Black
and Scott Jarrett for a music production class at MusicTech
(now McNally-Smith College of Music).
