My Tongue Pierce

My Tongue pierce was done by Joe J. At Rites Of Passage in Boston in October of 1994. It is a 13/16 14ga barbell with 1/4" balls. It's probably my favorite pierce.

Incidentally, the upper picture is is one of the BEST pictures of me that has ever been taken. And I owe it all to my good friend Sara, who, along with Marbit's Quicktake camera, is responsible for all the pictures on my piercing pages.

First, a sad story about my tongue. My first experiment in tongue stretching didn't quite turn out ideally. I purchased a 10ga 3/4"barbell with 3/8" balls on it, and stretched the hole to it, but with a lot of difficulty. It could have been the shock of stretching 2 sizes instead of one, or it could have been the fact that the extra length on the barbell and the balls added too much length to the barbell, but the hole never seemed to heal correctly. Soon, it started a small tear in the top of my tongue, which worried me a lot. So, I put the original barbell back in. Anyone got a good use for a 3/4" 10ga barbell?

But now the good news. I finally stretched up to 8 ga! I now have a beautiful 8ga acrylic barbell in my tongue, in green, naturally! (it does have clear balls, though. I haven't found the green ones yet..)
