LETTERS TO CLEO

College Fest October 5, 1996 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA

We left in the early afternoon. Took the T into Boston. Got off and walked to the Convention Center. We got into the building there was a really really long line. Mostly College students (go figure!)We waited in line about 12-20 minutes. It only cost like $3 to get in. They gave us a bag full of free stuff. We went through the doors and walked around looking at all the tables collecting tons of free stuff. We walked around for like 2 1/2 hours in there. Then we went over to where the stage was set up. There were about maybe 10 people sitting by the stage. So we put or stuff down and sat on the floor in front of the stage. While we waited we looked through all the free shit we got, read a new issue of Spin. People started to crowd in. So we stood up. Put our bags under the stage. We saw Scott(Riebling) walking around checking out all the tables and stuff. We were right up front against the stage. When he came back they went on. I think LTC came on around 2:000. Stacy wasn't with them. I think Kay said that he was playing with another band. Their replacement drummer was good too. Kay announced her engagement to Mike and showed us her ring(I think) They opened with "Demon Rock" then "Fast Way", "Big Star", their new song "Sparkle Girl", "Mellie's Comin' Over", "Laudanum", "Awake" during some songs people were throwing around blown up condoms. On landed and stage and Kay kinda laughed and kicked it off. I think they might have even blown up one and through it to the audience. I'm going by the set list that I snagged when they were done. I don't think they got to play all the songs on it. Kay asked us if there was any request people were shouting "He's Got an Answer" but they usually never play that song. My sister was shouting something and Kay stopped and pointed to her and asked what song she wanted. She said "Dangerous Type" they couldn't play it because the new drummer didn't know it. So I think they played "Jennifer", then "Little Rosa", "Acid Jed", "Here and Now" and "Pizza Cutter". After their set everyone left and we went to the side of stage and behind the stage to see if anyone was back their. Then I think Just Kay, Scott and the new drummer came out and walked by, I said "HI" and they said "Hi, and waved". They were headed to I think the WBCN truck to sign autographs or something. We didn't go to get their autographs cause Jen had to be to work in an hour and we had met them all before at previous shows so we just came back home.
