NIRVANA Album
Reviews
BLEACH (SUB-POP) - 1989
BLEACH is NIRVANA's first album, was recorded in 1989 and
SUB-POP was the record company that released it. BLEACH is one of
SUB-POP's all time highest sellers, it sold 39,000 copys (far from
the record of all record companys). BLEACH represented the best of
Seattle Alternative Music at the time. It wasn't until the age of
NIRVANA's album NEVERMIND (1991) and SOUNDGARDEN's album SuperUnkown
that Seattle became one of the music cities on the map.
NEVERMIND (Geffen Records) - 1991
Compaired to BLEACH, NEVERMIND distroyed that album. NEVERMIND
one of the most popular alternative albums of all time (more than 8
million albums sold). Smells Like Teen Spirit kit #6 on the charts
setting an new age of music. In Bloom, Come As Your Are, Drain You,
etc are some of the best songs on the album
IN UTERO (Geffen Records) - 1994
IN UTERO took a different direction than NEVERMIND. Although
not as good as NEVERMIND, it is better than BLEACH or INCESTICIDE
(not reviewed). Heart-Shaped Box and All Apologies are some of the
favorites from this album. With 4 million albums sold, it is a great
album, not as good as NEVERMIND though.
UNPLUGGED IN NEW YORK (Geffen Records) - 1994
This album shows NIRVANA in a different way. The only
electricity used in this concert was for the microphone, lights, and
recording stuff. Many of NIRVANA's songs were better on this album
than they were on there original album (prime example: About A Girl
from BLEACH). Also NIRVANA does versions of other artists songs like
The Man Who Sold The World (David Bowe).
FROM THE MUDDY BANKS OF THE WISHKAH (Geffen Records) -
1996
NIRVANA's first album in 2 years shows that they still can get
people to listen to there music. Many of the songs NIRVANA does in
this album are improvements to the original version (just listen to
Smells Like Teen Spirit). This is a live album, covering from
1989-1994 (earlist tours to some of the last tour).
