"The Words I Write"

When your tongue is tied
And the words won't come
When the mood is right
But your voice is numb
When the tears won't stop
No matter the cost
Got so much to say
But you're still at a loss

Just look to me
And you won't be alone
Let the words I write
Become your own

It's a part I play
I'm an actor in a role
To put on a mask
And reach into your soul
To pull out the hurt
And to speak your mind
The words I write
Are the telling kind

I'll put on your life
Like an enveloping coat
Put it all down on paper
In a book you never wrote
I can tell your tale
Like it's never been told
I can spin your yarn
Like a web of gold

But when it comes to me
Can't summon the words
That will tell my story
So it goes unheard
I'll just tell your tale
Seen through your eyes
While quietly hidden
Beneath this disguise

It's a role I play
I'm a master at the art
With the words I write
I will play your part
I'll put on my make-up
And I'll take my mark
It's a lot safer
Than to open up my heart

So look to me
And you won't be alone
Let the words I write
Become your own
