Net Link News 7
News May 2
Exciting news for today; first, check later today at
Sega for an update
for press releases on Net Link games including screen shots.
Also, Sega.com will soon have an IRC chat there; it was
supposed to be up today but there wasn't enough time.
Be sure to check at
Net Link World for an exclusive Interview with 2 Sega
Represenitives!!
More on Net Link games:
The first 2 Net link games will be availible in early-mid
June (Sega Rally & Virtual On) and you can only purchase
them directly through Sega for less then $30!!! That's
only Rally and V-On. Remember, these titles will not
be for sale in retail stores because these two games were
already released to the retail. If you read in gaminformer.com
or gamefan.com, you can read a little more on the games.
Be sure to check Sega tonight for press releases with
screenshots!!
Ooops! forgot to mention that the broswers in the Net link
games will not be like a normal browser (like I thought)
so you cannot enter URL's cause that would get too confusing.

Be sure to check Planet Web and Sega's site later this week
for the next upgrade! If not by the end of this week,
it'll be here at the beginning of next. This one I'm not
sure of what it's contents are as far as features go,
however I'm sure it'll have more colors, and IRC commands
just by looking at the way the last 2 upgrades have gone.
Let's hope maybe Real Audio or something COOL!! :)

SPECIAL NEWS!!
Today, Madison found
an intresting link to an RPG-style game that IS compatible
with the Net Link. Several Net Linkers can join in and fight
with swords, and other cool things. Before you go, please
take the time to read up here just to get started in the
right direction.
First when you click the link, scroll down untill you find
the "user" log on area. Don't log on as an OP! Type in
a nick name and click and go! You'll be in room 1 where
you start out, and there
will be a place to type messages to either chat, or use
it to attack/move etc. It's like IRC, you can type
/msg "nick" "message" and hit "enter" when done. I think
they have to be in the same room and not have wandered off.
First, type /help and hit "enter" to bring up a list of
commands. Ignore the clickable box on the top right;
that don't work with NL. Instead, type "n", "w", "e", or
"s" in the typing area and hit enter. It will move you
in the direction you specified. It takes a little bit to
get used to, but try it out and learn more! To hit someone
or something, use /hit "name". EXAMPLE: /hit Wizardress
or /hit imp. Anyway, enough blabbing and go play!
Take
me to the game!!
Good luck!
News May 9
Unfortunately, the new beta upgrade will not be out today,
(Friday, May 9) but will hopefully make it out by Monday.
Planet Web is currently working on a cool feature
that will make it for this next beta; which may even push
the release back to Tuesday, May 13. I'm not sure what the
feature is, but I'm sure it's worth waiting for.
Also, it was rumord that Planet Web was having troubles
with a large bug while working on this beta version. This
was proved to be a false rumor today as Planet Web states.
That's it for now....hopefully I'll get some worth-while
info on the upgrade before it's release :)
<SARCASM> The Net Link games will be out in stores
in a week! </SARCASIM>

Some of you for some reason are switching to Web Bullet
as your ISP. Do not do it. You can connect using ANY ISP
to the Net Link Zone(tm) that is built
in the Net Link games. However Sega's Net Work isn't going
to be out for a little while so we'll have to stick with
Direct Dialing. Good enough for me. It's almost the same
price to direct dial as it would be to connect online!
Ok, 10 cents a minute for games while equals $6 an hour.
Connecting online would cost around $3-$5 an hour.
So, it's not such a bad deal now is it? :)
News May 11
I have been getting a lot of e-mails from people asking
if they should switch to Web Bullet as their ISP to play
Net Link games for free, without having to worry about
long distance charges. My answer is No, you don't have
to switch ISP's cause Sega's Net Work isn't done anyways
plus you can connect to the Net Link Zone that's built
in the Net Link games (god knows what NL Zone is) but
you can with any ISP. I'm not sure why there is a hidden
page for Web Bullet and it's connection to the Net Link
because I don't think we'll need Web Bullet. It would be
too much of a hassle to have all Net Link owners to have to
change their current ISP to another just to play Net Link
games for a cheaper price than Direct Dial. Sega should
really have the Net Work availible when the games DO go
up for sale early-mid June. In the large Palace chat log
we have at Net Link World, one Sega rep states the games
will start shipping by end of June. *boggle* When I get
the Net Link version of Sega Rally, I'll have a huge, personal,
gamers-point-of-view-review of it and things like that.
It'll also be for people who want to know if it's worth
buying directly from Sega. I won't leave out bad things
about the game, either. Although I'm not to excited about
Virtual On for Net Link, i'm sure it will be a great game
for those who like it and are good at it. I personally
don't really like the game myself but will still attempt
to play it against anyone who wants to. Remember, I'll
have my stats for my wins/losses on the games and more posted
here if ya wanna check it out.
Remember that the next beta upgrade will be out tomorrow
or Tuesday because Planet Web are hard at work on a feature
that is supposedly very cool. I'm still not sure what that
feature is :( however I'll try to find out for ya'll by
tomorrow before the actual upgrade is released.
If you have any comments, suggestions, or any questions
concerning the Net Link or my page, don't hesitate to
e-mail my ass whenever
you like!
