Glastonbury '99 - NME Review

Glasto proves tailor-made for sharpdressed charmers Fun Lovin' Criminals and their Beasties-on-Valium grooves. Shaggy of mane and sporting Vegas lounge suits, the trio's soft-shoe shuffles sound familiar: 'King Of New York', 'Korean Bodega', 'The Fun Lovin' Criminal', 'Love Unlimited'. Every number blurs into the next, each sounding like the extended intro to a senastional slow jam the Crims were simply too stoned to finish off. Sometimes this madness is maddening - like, couldn't they write just one slink-funk anthem as majestic as Ice Cube's 'It Was A Good Day' or Bran Van 3000's 'Drinking In La', purely for mid-set variation? But never mind that now, because Huey has an adoring crowd eating out of his hand, and the vibe is large
