Hail there... I doubt anybody would be interested, but here's the story of my life:
30/04/1978
- Rúben Joás da Silva Pereira was
born (at this time still with short hair) in Porto, Portugal, on a sunday at high
noon...
1978-1982
- Sucking, drooling, pissing... the works...
1983
- The first ambitions to grow long hair begin...
1984-1990
- Primary school, prep school... the usual
1991
- First serious attempt to grow hair fails due to
paternal disapproval...
1992
- Metallica is listened carefully for the first
time, causing a major turn in the life of young Joás...
- First computer of the 8086
family acquired (386sx/25Mhz).
1993
- Several attempts to grow long hair were made, but
never reaching the shoulders...
- Interest in guitar playing
was fatally initiated...
- Appreciation to other metal
bands like Megadeth and Sepultura began.
- Interest in computer
programing in Pascal and C++ initialized.
Spring of 1994
- Yet another try to grow hair began...
- First serious contact with an acoustic gguitar and
the concepts of guitar playing...
- Knowledge on how to play a basic guitar song acquired, involving the learning of
the incredibly boring "Come As You Are" by Nirvana.
Summer of 1994
- Hair length reaches the shoulders.
- On late July a Santana C-102 acoustic guitar is acquired...
- Rúben's appearance starts to be the one of a typical Metalhead wannabe...
Autumn of 1994
- Hair reaches a near-metalish length.
- Improvements on guitar playing techniques are made swiftly; short
original tunes are composed.
Winter of 1994/95
- First full length guitar song learned ("One" by Metallica).
- Luis Miranda suggested the creation of a
Thrash Metal band, that was initially baptized as "Mercyless" (later renamed to Death
Line)...
- Hair regretfully falls at a lame barber
shop...
1995
- Black starts to be the only color wore.
- The hair growing quest
restarts.
- First major metal concert
attended on the 16th of April (Megadeth in Cascais).
- An agreement to play
temporarily on a pop band with a lame name is made.
- In September, Rúben wears
a non-black color for the first time in 8 months, at his brother's wedding.
Winter of 1996
- A dark metallic red Jackson PS-2 electric guitar
is purchased, along with a Samick 10W amplifier.
- The 386sx/25Mhz processor is upgraded to 486sx/25Mhz, and one week later to
486dx2/66Mhz...
Spring of 1996
- Hair reaches an acceptable length once again.
- Rúben is nicknamed "Rúben C" for his C++ programing skills...
- First major disappointment in life - Rúben was left speechless for several
hours when he saw Metallica with short hair on the photos of "Load"...
Summer of 1996
- Hi-school finished with an average of 15 (out of
20).
- First concert performed with the pop band with the lame name...
- Rúben gets in the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, on
Informatics and Computing Engineering, with the lowest average possible that year (12.8).
- First Metallica concert attended in the 20th of September at the Restelo
Stadium in Lisbon.
Autumn of 1996
- The nickname "Sepultura" is attributed
in universitary praxis...
- Rúben in forced to wear a white t-shirt for the first time in 12 months at a
praxis session...
- Driving license obtained.
Winter of 1996/97
- Hair length is around 46.15cm (18.183in)...
- Discovery of the wonders of Internet and
IRC - nickname Desecrate adopted.
1997
- Nothing special happened.
1998
- Hair is longer than half a meter (19.7in).
- New computer acquired,
Pentium 133Mhz.
1999
- First concert performed with Death Line.
- Rúben inherits a car - a 1974
Toyota Corolla.
2000
- Death Line breaks up.
- A Zoom 9150 Valve DSP guitar
effects processor is acquired.
Longest measurement made in January'99 indicated hair length at around 58.5cm (23.05in).
Longest loose hair found in June'98 measured 59.7cm (23.52in).

And This is it for now... In case you're interested, here's an MP3 of a song I made -
"Roaming In Darkness"... And also, here's my
"interpretation" of the Toccata from "Toccata & Fugue In
Dmin" by the great Johann Sebastian Bach (I didn't feel like tuning down my guitar, so
I played it in Emin)... These MP3s were recorded in a bit of a hurry, so this is not
very perfect, but i added some cool fx with the computer... Let me know if you like
them...
