(November 21,
2001) PAUL HUNTER TO
DIRECT MOVIE "BULLETPROOF MONK" IN 2002
I hinted a few weeks ago on this
site that Paul Hunter was working on directing his first feature film.
The project has finally been green-lit, and become official. Paul
Hunter is to direct "Bulletproof Monk" for MGM. The
movie is an adaption of the cult comic book (published in 1999 by Flypaper
Press), and is set to star Chow Yun-Fat (Crouching
Tiger, Hidden Dragon). It was revealed yesterday in trade papers
The
Hollywood Reporter and Daily
Variety that Seann William Scott (American
Pie 1 & 2) has also signed on for the film. Director John
Woo (Mission Impossible 2) and Terence Chang's Lion Rock Productions will
produce the film. The comic book is about an Tibetan martial arts
master who becomes a mentor to a young urban street kid. Filming is
expected to begin in early 2002
