(November 23, 2002)  BULLETPROOF MONK SITE OPENS; TRAILER ONLINE
A small 2mb Quicktime format trailer for Bulletproof Monk was posted on the apple.com website late last night (Friday).  Earlier today (Saturday), the official BulletproofMonk.com website launched.  The site contains links to the apple.com trailer as well as links to the trailer in Windows Media format; a synopsis of the film, and 5 production stills from the movie.

(November 22, 2002)  BULLETPROOF MONK TRAILER PREMIERES WITH 007
I went to watch (007) Die Another Day after work, and I was pleasantly surprised to see first trailer for Bulletproof Monk during the previews!  I guess I should have seen it coming, as both movies are being released by MGM.  It was smart of MGM to hold off premiering the trailer and wait to attach it to a movie as big as 007, therefore gaining as much exposure as possible.
(I'm not 100% sure that the BPM trailer is attached to ALL showings of 007, but I'm pretty sure it is attached to most)

The trailer starts off with a shot of the "scroll" and some Chinese characters, then an English translation.  I wasn't paying too much attention to the words or what they were; I wanted to pay more attention to the movie footage.  Basically, the trailer introduces the story of the monk, the scroll, and the kid.  Lots of martial arts sequences, including a lot of "flying twirl jumps" (like they do in a lot of old-school Chinese kung-fu movies; sorry, only way I could describe it); they showed the slo-mo bullet scene (someone shooting at the Monk, and the bullets seem to slow down as the Monk slowly observes them); the Monk training Kar in the warehouse (footage that had previously been previewed on television); a scene where Kar is kneeling and the Monk places his hand on him, as if to pass on his power to Kar; and some cheesy words of wisdom from the Monk to Kar.  I was so overwhelmed by the trailer at the end, that I didn't even pay attention to the release date, or if they even listed it at the end.

As of Friday night, the trailer has not made it online, but I expect it to be available at apple.com early next week.  Hopefully the official movie website will also open in the coming weeks.
