Rectalator's Anti-Pop Symposium

This site has undergone some serious reforms in the past few hours. I decided that to better suit the viewing public, I should re-format the entire appearance of the page. In my infinite wisdom, I have arrived at a very important conclusion: Paragraph form is easier to read than centered notes. What with that being said, we shall now move on to the content, or meat if you will, of my life.

Bypass this Bullshit and read about the revolution...

I have been involved in many musical endeavours. I have played as many instruments as I can count on three fingers in these organisations of musicians. In the begginning of my career in music, Ross Myran and myself formed a formidable combo commonly referred to as Neighborhood Watch. During the brief existence of this formation of today's band, Rol Model, I played guitar and sang with Ross Myran, Kalvin Hoff, and Dylan Teeters. We gained fast local success after placing third at the Battle of the Youth bands on July 2, 1999 as a guitar duo Soon after this, we played shows as the full band at the Bandshell in Dickinson, North Dakota; at the Taylor Horsefest (or Hick Circus) in Taylor, North Dakota; with our final show as a band at the Richardton-Taylor High School in Richardton, North Dakota. As Neighborhood Watch came to a close, tensions within the group had grown prominent.

As differences were reconciled, Ross and I reformed the guitar duo in an acoustic format called *MoonLily*. We recorded an album, and played but one show at the Horsefest in 2000. The show was a smashing succes, but the reception yielded no further opportunity, leaving potential in the wreckage. At the same time, a new band was emerging from the Neighborhood Watch mold. *PennyRoyal* too became instantly successful. The original format of this assembly was: Ross Myran-Guitar/Voice; Joshua Kuhn-Guitar/Voice; Kalvin Hoff-Bass; Chris Urban-Percussion. Though I joined as a replacement drummer after the first few shows, I was accepted as a standard part of the band. After a time it was decided that Kalvin needed replacement. After a stint with the lovely Ryan Burke-Bass, we settled on Sir Matthew Pizza Esquire-bass. He too served the band well, but shortly after his addition, I was torn away to school in Grand Forks, ND. A man called Fat Bastard (Shawn Paulson) acted as my temporary replacement much to the dismay of everyone involved. Fat Bastard and the Abortion Doctors played sporadically at Dickinson State University.

Around the same time, Joshua Kuhn-Guitar/Voice became Joshua Kuhn-Bass/Voice and continued with Ross Myran-Guitar/Voice to join Beau Binek-Growls and Chente Ornelas-Percussion to become Rol Model. Around this time I realized the worthlessness of Grand Forks, ND and found myself a home as Dane Rectal-Guitar/Voice of Rol Model.

Southwest North Dakota owes the MusicMart a huge debt of gratitude.
