Have you noticed the decline in usage of the word 'jungle'? I suppose it can be traced back to the ragga style of jungle that came and went out of fashion so quickly in 1994. Many people now are denying their roots with the use of more media-friendly terms like drum & bass or UK breakbeat to reach that lucrative crossover market. Those still proud to call themselves junglists maybe don't get the recognition they deserve, but the irony is that no matter how much people try to hold down the `jump-up' style, the demand from the public, especially the younger junglists, is still massive.

"Everybody should know we've been featuring vocals on singles for a long time, so it's a natural thing. It's like ragga vocals fused with jungle beats, but it's not to be categorised. Everyone would rather be politicians than musicians. We are just musicians doing our thing, We're not watching nobody else any more."

"We call it poli-tricks, but yeah, there's politics coming from all those people who want to just follow Metalheadz. Metalheadz have got their own concept, but too many other people just want follow and that's what's crashing the scene. Why can't they find their thing to do? "

"Everybody used to live in the same house, then the disease called money got into the house and nearly everybody got infected. Few years later, when we look around, there's only about three of us left. We've had close mates come out of the circle and switch. Some people will say we're jealous, but it's not about that, it's about keeping it real. Do you know what happens when you start getting paid by the majors? Your standard of life goes up obviously, but it's keeping it up and so you begin making music for the wrong reasons. The majors aren't making any decent money from jungle and what happens when these corporations want to get rid of you? The MDs who play golf together and fly all over the world have a meeting like "how much did you make? What, "We're going to keep doing it until people recognise us. We ain't gonna stop. We're just going to keep going and going - even if it goes past the year 2000. We ain't changing and calling it drum & bass. `Jungle' earned respect for the scene as a whole and people are trying to disregard it."

What we're dealing with is the future - man cannot be marketing a whole heap of drums with hard noises on top. It's not going to work, you have to have something representing like vocals to bust."

"Every label in England knows that vocals are the way forward, but it comes down to who can do it. The biggest tunes are vocal tunes. General Levy tore on one tune. One tune, he didn't even come with an album and Shy FX's "Nuttah" was on The Box for a few years."

"We can create our own little scene. We've got a whole heap of projects lined up . We're just waiting for certain things to come through and then we're going to attack."
