A promising player brought in from the youth ranks, Gerrard displayed flashes of brilliance
in his early appearances for Liverpool's first team. Even younger than Michael Owen, this talented
youngster has the time and potential to become the next McManaman.
Remarkably, Gerrard has played with amazing regularity this season and has proven to be a tough player.
His talent has never been in doubt and he is likely to feature prominantly in future campaigns. Gerrard
has already become an important player in the squad. Initially, he played in Didi Hamann's absence and when
Jamie Redknapp picked up a long term injury, Gerrard stepped in.
He is not merely a replacement though and he can gain a lot by playing alongside Hamann in midfield.
Gerrard has also shown that he has matured after being given the cold shoulder by Gerard Houllier for a whole
week after being sent off in the Merseyside Derby. The midfielder scored his first ever senior goal against
Sheffield Wednesday in a 4-1 demoltion of the Owls.
In that match, Gerrard, David Thompson and Danny Murphy ran the show. From the look of things, the player
needs more experience and guidance before he is ready to take over the Reds' midfield. Having said that,
Gerrard still possesses a wealth of talent and his future at the club is not under any doubt.
