At 30, Meijer is a seasoned campaigner. He has a reputation back home for being a classy striker.
Though not much is known about him, the addition of Meijer would mean greater competition for places
upfront and he could also provide excellent cover for Owen and Fowler. Of his latest career move, Meijer
has this to say: "Every player would love to play for the club of their dreams, the one they grew up
supporting. I realise how lucky I am to have been given this chance. Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen are
known throughout Europe as two of the best strikers, and I know how hard it's going to be to break into
the side. I'll give my best shot though."
To date, Meijer has scored a number of goals for the reserves but has found himself fourth in line for
a first team place, behind Fowler, Owen and Titi Camara. He is not downhearted though and is capable of
filling in for either of his teammates. |
