Signed from Laval by fellow Frenchman, Gerard Houllier, Traore has impressed so far. He arrived with much promise after being labelled the "next Marcel Desailly" by the manager. Although he is still unknown, he is known to have the necessary skill to fit into the first team easily. His arrival is very much like that of Nicolas Anelka to Arsenal two seasons ago, but whether he will have similar impact remains to be seen.

So far, young Traore has earned himself a place on the bench sevaral times but has not tasted a lot of action. Gerard Houllier's key defensive worry is at left-back so Traore will not be tested too many times during the remainder of the season.
