APPENDAGES
The Tea Party consists of three members -- Jeff Burrows, Stuart Chatwood, and Jeff Martin. The following is a little bit of information on the band members themselves as well as the formation of The Tea Party.

Jeff Burrows

Jeff Burrows is the drummer/percussionist for The Tea Party. Jeff's father played the drums and gave him lessons. Jeff Burrows and Jeff Martin played together at the age of 12; at the age of 15, Jeff, Stuart, and Jeff all played in different bands. All three were outcasts in high school, or so they say. In 1990, Jeff Burrows got fired from his band and was recruited by Jeff Martin and Stuart Chatwood to join them in rehearsals at Cherry Beach studios for an upcoming gig they had back in Windsor.
Jeff married his high school sweetheart and they have a young daughter.
*Note -- We received an e-mail from Chris B saying that Jeff has two sons and no daughters!! Uh-oh, now we're confused!!

Stuart Chatwood

Stuart Chatwood is the bassist/keyboardist for The Tea Party. Stuart met Jeff Martin in a high school art class. After learning that Jeff Burrows and Jeff Martin needed someone to play the bass, Stuart switched from the guitar. In high school, the group played in different bands together including a band with their art teacher. Stuart and Jeff Martin had also played together in a failed Toronto group before recruiting Burrows and forming The Tea Party.

Jeff Martin

Jeff Martin is the lead vocalist and guitarist for The Tea Party. He was born on October 2, 1969. --All three members of The Tea Party are around the same age.-- At the age of nine, Jeff picked up a guitar and started playing. Being left-handed, however, Jeff was faced with some drawbacks. He found that there were few left handed guitars, and as a result he was forced to play with his right hand. After graduating from high school in 1988, he went to the University of Windsor and took classes in music.
On tour Jeff married, but then divorced before The Edges of Twilight; the divorce greatly influenced the Edges album.
At live concerts, Jeff is known to run around between the instruments, because they have such a wide variety to play at each concert. He plays exotic
  • instruments such as six-string and 12 string guitars, Santoor, Sarods, Sitars, dumbek drums, and electric guitars.
