It's foolish to want for the heyday of The Clash-those days are long gone by. In classic rock fashion, the leaders of the group have parted over "artistic differences:" Mick Jones to pursue his melodic, offbeat pop leanings with Big Audio Dynamite, leaving Joe Stummer to carry the Clash banner. He responds with the most committed sounding Clash album since London Calling.
Cut The Crap is a brash, uncompromising LP with cracking guitars, rough vocals and lots of noise coming from all directions. It's a hard LP to fathom, but in a sense that makes it true to the Clash's roots. Listen tough and you'll be rewarded with toughness-something wholly unexpected from 1985's Clash.
Top cuts: "Dirty Punk," "This Is England," "We Are The Clash," "Three Card Trick."
