A spokesman for Epic, who will release the tribute album, told NME: "We haven't got a date because we're still waiting for a release schedule for the Clash live album, that will be coming out on Columbia. I can't see it coming out before Summer of 1999 at the very earliest."

Other contributors to the album include TRICKY, LEONARD COHEN, TOM WAITS, PRIMAL SCREAM, KORN, ICE CUBE, RANCID and NO DOUBT.

MTV Online has reported that The Afghan Whigs have also recorded tracks for forthcoming JOHN LENNON and BIG STAR tribute albums; the tracks they have covered are 'Woman' and 'Nightime' respectively.

The Whigs release a new single - 'Something Hot' - from current album '1965' in late January/early February next year. They will also be playing a full UK tour around that time; dates are being finalised and ought to be announced later this week. Click back regularly for more news.
