Ex-Clash singer/songwriter Joe Strummer will spend the month of November touring the U.S. to promote his new album, Rock, Art & the X-Ray Style.

The Brit-punk pioneer and his band, the Mescaleros, will kick off the 20-date trek Nov. 1 in Seattle; then they'll proceed down the West Coast before heading east. The tour ends Nov. 27 in Atlanta.

Strummer and his band did a six-date tour in the summer, in which they revived old Clash songs, such as "London Calling" (RealAudio excerpt) and "White Man in Hammersmith Palais." Due Nov. 2, the new album is expected to include the songs "Yalla-Yalla" and "Tony Adams." Strummer told a Washington, D.C., crowd at the opening date of the summer tour that the latter song is "about an obscure soccer player from England."

Meanwhile, a Clash documentary chronicling the band's 1976–83 heyday, "Westway to the World," is set to air on British television Oct. 3. The film, directed by Don Letts, is not yet scheduled for a U.S. release. A live Clash album, Live From Here to Eternity, is due in stores Oct. 19.

The Clash, one of the original wave of British punk bands and one of the most influential, broke up in 1986 after releasing the poorly received Cut the Crap a year earlier.

Strummer (born John Graham Mellor) has since done some movie scoring, played briefly with the folk-punk band the Pogues and released a solo album, Earthquake Weather (1989). Until recently, he had been quiet for much of the '90s, partly because of a contract dispute with Sony Music. That dispute has been settled, paving the way for Rock, Art & the X-Ray Style.
