The Outlandish Companion This book is a must for all lovers of the Outlander series! It will not be out until June 1999, but you can pre-order it!!!
The COMPANION includes (among other things): the story of how Diana Gabaldon came to write the series, synopses of the four published books (for those who don't want to reread a million-and-a-half-words to refresh their memories), a comprehensive, alphabetical cast of characters, a Gaelic glossary and pronunciation guide; illustrations of buildings, jewelry and weapons; maps, family trees, an annotated bibliography, a FAQ section, plus another dealing with controversies roused by the books; appendices on genealogical research, Gaelic and Scots dialect, poems and quotations used in the books. Also, The Gabaldon Theory of Time Travel, and discussions and excerpts of forth-coming books.

Bridget Jones's Diary By Helen Fielding.
In the course of the year recorded in Bridget Jones's Diary, Bridget confides her hopes, her dreams, and her monstrously fluctuating poundage, not to mention her consumption of 5277 cigarettes and "Fat units 3457 (approx.) (hideous in every way)." In 365 days, she gains 74 pounds. On the other hand, she loses 72! There is also the unspoken New Year's resolution--the quest for the right man. Alas, here Bridget goes severely off course when she has an affair with her charming cad of a boss. But who would be without their e-mail flirtation focused on a short black skirt? The boss even contends that it is so short as to be nonexistent. I love this book! I can read it over and over again!!

Bridget Jones : The Edge of Reason By Helen Fielding.
Fans of Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones's Diary will recall that at the end of that sly and funny version of Pride and Prejudice, singleton heroine Bridget landed her Mr. Darcy at last--Mark Darcy, that is. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason picks up four weeks later, and already the honeymoon is over. In addition to discovering that the man of her dreams votes conservative, left-leaning Bridget is also feeling just a mite uncomfortable with the realities of sharing bed and board with another person: V. complicated actually having man in house as cannot freely spend requisite amount of time in bathroom or turn into gas chamber as conscious of other person late for work, desperate for pee etc.; also disturbed by Mark folding up underpants at night, rendering it strangely embarrassing now simply to keep all own clothes in pile on floor. But all of these problems pale to insignificance with the arrival on the scene of Rebecca, a beautiful, man-hunting arch-nemesis with "thighs like a baby giraffe" and absolutely no girlfriend code of ethics when it comes to poaching another woman's man. Before long, Rebecca's manipulations, Bridget's own insecurities, and a string of misunderstandings (starting with a naked Filipino boy in Mark Darcy's bed and ending with a suggestive valentine from Bridget's dry cleaner) result in "128 lbs. (good), alcohol units 0 (excellent), cigarettes 5 (a pleasant, healthy number), no. times driven past Mark Darcy's house 2 (v.g.), no. of times looked up Mark Darcy's name in phone book to prove still exists 18 (v.g.), 1471 calls 12 (better), no. of phone calls from Mark 0 (tragic). Fortunately, Bridget has plenty of other problems to distract her. Her mother has returned from a trip to Kenya with a young Masai in tow--to her father's consternation; her best friends Jude, Shazzer, and Tom are all trapped in dating hell themselves; her apartment is in shambles thanks to a dotty carpenter; an unreliable ex-boyfriend has just reentered her life; and now someone is sending Bridget death threats--could it be Mark Darcy? If Bridget Jones's Diary was a modern riff on Pride and Prejudice, its sequel borrows several themes and devices (not to mention a section heading) from another Austen novel, Persuasion. And as in Austen's fiction, here the journey is the destination. A happy ending for Bridget and her pals is a foregone conclusion; how they get there, however, will have you on the edge of your chair--if you haven't already fallen off of it laughing.

The Best of Friends By Joanna Trollope.
The Best of Friends is the rich and complex story of Gina and Laurence, friends since their teens but never in love. Now, however, Gina's exquisitely tasteful husband has found his wife and daughter no longer to his liking, and in her loss, Gina turns to her dearest friend for comfort--sending both of their marriages to the brink of betrayal. Trollope understands the complexities and dilemmas of everyday life better than almost anyone. I love the books of Joanna Trollope. I own all of them myself and I strongly recommend them!

A Spanish Lover By Joanna Trollope.
In Joanna Trollope's The Spanish Lover, Frances and Lizzie are twins, but the resemblance between them is strictly physical. Lizzie is married, a mother, the owner of a successful business. Frances is--well, people are beginning to worry about Frances now that she is almost 40. Instead of dwindling into respectable English spinsterhood, however, Frances moves to Spain and falls in love with a very married Spaniard named Luis, who, because he is Catholic, will never leave his wife. The repercussions of Frances's actions are unexpected indeed: as her life takes on new meaning and joy, the lives of her family back in England begin to crumble. Another book from Joanna Trollope, the first one I ever read... and I was caught from page 1!

Worst Fears By Fay Weldon.
Worst Fears focuses on Alexandra Ludd, a minor actress whose seemingly idyllic life in the West Country in England is turned upside-down when her husband Ned dies of a heart attack. Alexandra learns that not only was her marriage a sham, but that her friends and family are not as loyal as they seemed. When at the funeral her husband's mistress, Jenny, receives more sympathy than Alexandra and even her dog, Diamond, snubs her, Alexandra realizes it is she who has been shallow and vain, and embarks on a journey to discover what really sustains romantic love. Fay Weldon is also one of my favourites. :o)

Paint Shop Pro 5 (Visual Quickstart Guide)By Ben Sawyer, Joann Meyer.
Takes an easy, visual approach to teaching Paint Shop Pro, using pictures to guide you through the software and show you what to do; works like a reference book - you look up what you need and then get straight to work; no long-winded passages - concise, straightforward commentary explains what you need to know; and affordably priced, because buying a computer book shouldn't be an investment in itself. Yeah! I definately must get this one myself! LOL

Myths and Legends of the Middle Ages By Helene A. Guerber
Medieval romance and other kinds of myth and legend from the Middle Ages offer a heady mix of Christian and pagan elements, reflecting both the passing of an ancient culture and the arrival of a new order. Not purely legend, not really history, these wonderful stories often involve pagan heroes reshaped to fit tales of knighthood and Christian endeavor. 36 illustrations. I love this book... and the Middle Ages!
