Do you have any siblings? Yes, I have a sister, Lisa.

What other bands besides Danger Danger have you played in? My first band was Diamond w/Bruno. Then, The Kidds and Hotshot, again w/Bruno. Kid Blue and then D2.

Do you have any pets? I had a black cat for 15 years. Her name was Cookie. I had to put her to sleep years ago, but I still miss her a lot.

Any musical training? I took a few drum lessons and some guitar, piano and bass.

What are your favorite bands? Growing up: The Beatles, Stones, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Kiss, Aerosmith, Angel, Starz, The Babys, Thin Lizzy, Survivor, Motley Crue, Loverboy, and Rick Springfield. My favorite band is still Cheap Trick. Currently I still dig John Waite, The Producers, Motley Crue, Anything ‘’Mutt’’ Lange does, Patrick O’ Hearn (New age stuff), Burt Bacharach and anything good.

Did you parents encourage you to pursue a musical career? Yes. My folks are great, especially my mom. My dad wasn’t so sure for a while until we made our first record.

Biggest musical influence: Cheap Trick

Some background info: I was into music at a very early age. I had the Beatles’ White Album’ and The Stone’s “Flowers” albums when I was 7. I decided I wanted to play drums while listening to B.T. Express’s “Do It ‘Til Your Satisfied.” I was 15. I took some guitar, bass and piano lessons as well. Besides music, what are some of the things you like to do? I love the nightlife. I like to boogie.

What are some simple things that bring you pleasure? Sex. A slice of sicilian pizza from ‘’Rosa’s Pizza.” A good record. Touring.

And things that annoy you most? That would be a long list.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment so far? When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was be in a band, make records and play for people. I did, and 10 years later, I’m fortunate enough to still be doing it. I’m very thankful.

Are you married or in a serious relationship? I’m “very” single!

What are some of your bad habits? I’m lazy. I procrastinate. I’m stubborn. I’m indecisive...can I stop now? You have been working with Bruno Ravel for a long time. How have you guys gotten along so well for so long? Bruno and I have known each other almost 20 years. Wow! I don’t know how we’ve done it. It’s a love/hate thing. We are definitely the “Odd Couple.”

What other jobs have you had? I was a delivery boy at my dad’s coffee shop for a few years when I was a kid. I worked in a record store from age 16-19. At 20 I started playing in cover bands with Bruno until D2. When we weren’t playing we had a few shall we say “odd jobs.’’

Are you a people person? Do you take the time to hang out with fans, sign autographs, etc., when you are on tour? YES!!!!!!! Just ask our fans. They’ll tell ya. Our fans come first and foremost above anything. I learned something very important when I was young. I went to go see my favorite band ‘’Cheap Trick’’ when I was 15. All I wanted to do was meet them and tell them how much they meant to me. I didn’t know anyone at the show or have a backstage pass but I managed to find a door that led to the room where they were hanging out. The door had a big window in it, so we could actually see everyone in the room. There were a lot of fans, etc. in there with them. I was with 2 friends (who later became D-Generation-I love those guys) anyway we were bangin’ on the door trying to get people to let us in. Needless to say everyone was ignoring us and being assholes. Suddenly, Robin Zander sees these 3 stupid little kids and walks right through everyone in the room, straight to us, and literally kicks the door open. Just to say ‘’hello’’ and let us know that he appreciated us. Now that’s class. I’ve never forgotten that day. Bruno and I have seen Cheap Trick pretty much every year for the past 20 years. Robin has always taken the time to say hello, as well as the rest of the guys. Eventually, we became label mates at Epic and now we’re good friends. Strangely enough, peers. Talk about weird. Anyway, the point being he’s always taken the time to say hey, and it meant a lot to me. When a fan wants my time and attention, they get it. I know what it means to them. Hell, I ‘’am’’ them and always will be. And quite honestly, It means ‘’a lot’’ to me! Thanks everyone!!

Favorite band to see live? Isn’t it obvious... Cheap Trick!

Who was the first band you saw in concert? Bad Company and Kansas at Madison Square Garden.

Mary tells us about Steve...

Describe Steve’s personality: Mary (editor of the Living Dangerously E-zine): Steve’s personality....ha ha..wow...this could be fun! Nooo but really...Steve is a really dedicated guy. It’s scary the fusion that exists between he and Bruno. There’s some sort of symbiotic action taking place and it always shows through the music. Aside from that, he’s hysterically funny and knows how to make people laugh. He’s very insightful, and of course, very creative. And..ah..he owes me twenty bucks for this...ha ha!
