Charlotte on festivals

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST FESTIVAL APPEARANCE?
"V97 and it was one of the first gigs I ever played with Ash and I'd left Nightnurse the week before. We did the warm-ups and then did this festival to 20,000 people and it was the first I'd ever been to. I was dazed and confused. We did Reading, too, and that was special because we played before Page and Plant and we're big Led Zep fans. We stayed the whole weekend."

IS THERE ANYBODY YOU'RE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING?
"I'd love to see the Happy Mondays, just to see if they are anygood or not. I'd like to check out the Manics."

DO YOU THINK FESTIVALS ARE BETTER THAN NORMAL GIGS?
"Nah, well it's a really different thing. I prefer doing smaller gigs, because at festivals you're playing at five in the afternoon and you can't really get into it. Festivals are just a good excuse to have a right royal piss-up."

ARE YOU CAMPING THIS YEAR OR POSHING IT UP IN A HOTEL OR BUS?
"I hope I'll be camping at Glastonbury. Are there hotels? I don't know. We'll be wallowing in the mud."

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ACCESSORY FOR THE FESTIVAL-GOER?
"A pair of wellington boots. And, of course, plenty of booze."
