ASH ARE BACK FROM THE BRINK

It's been a bit of a bumpy ride over the last ten years or so for Irish band Ash, but it looks like they're finally back where they started - at the top

Their new album, Free All Angels, has brought them phenomenal success, entering the charts at number 1.

It's good to see Ash riding high again, their debut album, '1977', was a cracker but, until now, they haven't been able to repeat that success.

In fact, things seemed to get steadily worse each year. So, where does the band think the turning point was ?

"A lot of it was down to our 'Shining Light' single," admits singer Tim Wheeler.

"Never underestimate the power of a great record. It got us back on the radio and seemed to be used as a backing track for a few sporting events. That certainly helped re-launch us as a band."

The band will be back in Scotland in July to play T in the Park, a festival they have graced twice before, and Tim says he's looking forward to being north of the border.

"We played the Barrowland a couple of weeks ago, thats always a blast. T in the Park should be great as well. We played the very first one as a new band and it was great. The last time we didn't enjoy it as much but this time I think it'll be incredible, we can't wait to get up on stage and show people that Ash are back."
