Free All Angels Review
ASH
Free All Angels
Infectious *** (out of 5 *)
Plucky Irish punks continue to grow on spirited and flavoursome third outing
With 1998's Nu-Clear Sounds, their angst-ridden second album, Tim Wheeler's mob sounded prematurely aged and weary. But while Submission and Cherry Bomb are sluggish, graphic sex songs, much of the time taken for this, their third album proper has not been wasted.
Walking Barefoot is joyous, sun-kissed lovers punk in the Undertones/Buzzcocks vein while the symphonic Someday
and string-laced, Walker Brothers-sampling Candy suggest they could be
around for the long haul. Ash - not burnt out yet.
