Where Are They Now?

Mike Sus, as I learned from Jeff Becerra (see below), went to college and completed a Psychology degree. At last report, he was working as a counsellor for drug addicts.

Larry LaLonde has been the most publicly visible ex-Possessed member. After Possessed, he joined fellow Bay-Area thrash band Blind Illusion, and in 1988 they released The Sane Asylum. After that album, Blind Illusion bassist Les Claypool struck out on his own, forming Primus. Larry quit Blind Illusion a few months later, joined Primus, and the rest is, as they say, a matter of public record.

Jeff Becerra, though known as the wild frontman of Possessed, decided not to continue after the breakup in 1988. In earlier revisions of this page, I stated a few details of Jeff's life that I had culled from a magazine article, but it turns out that these facts were in error. Here is the truth: sometime in 1989 (?) he was robbed by two drug addicts and shot, and the shot left him paralyzed from the waist down. However, he never 'went crazy' as I erroneously stated in earlier revisions of this page. Quite the contrary - he has gone to college, where he is a straight-A, honor-roll student in Labor Studies, and he plans to go on after this to law school, perhaps Berkley. I got these facts directly from Jeff Becerra himself, who heard about my page from a classmate and then checked it out for himself. He was very kind in correcting my small errors of fact and glad to 'set the record straight' about himself, and I thank him here publicly for assisting with my page and apologize for the previous errors. We all wish you the best.

There is no word on the whereabouts of Mark Strausberg, Paul Perry, or Bob Yost.

Walter Ryan continued with Possessed through the two demos from 1991 and 1992. He also played with Machine Head at some point, but I'm unsure exactly when.

Mike Torrao remained the core of the band after the post-Eyes break-up. He released at least two more demos under the Possessed name, and in 1993 opened a few Bay Area shows for Machine Head, who were just starting their first major tour. However, I have learned recently that Mike has decided to finally lay Possessed to rest. He is continuing in music, however, starting up a new project called Iconoklast, which will be a fast (but not satanic) metal project.
