hoping for the magic words
instead of "let's be together"
the words were "not ready for this

I thought I'd be your friend

I shot my eye daggers at her
You took the hope I placed in you
Threw it up in my face
Turned the knife in my back
Against my better judgment
I kept on loving you

You killed the little girl in me
Stole all the hope in my soul
Twisted all my words
Though I never said a thing
Against my better judgment
I bit my lip again
