As originally published in Pulp March 1999 by David McNickel Moving about as far away as it's possible from her previous singles 'The Way I Feel' or 'Westie Gals', Hellriegel has a new record label (Universal) - and a new sound. Her latest five track single sound more influenced by her associations with cabaret star Mika than past liasons with Straitjacket Fits front man Shane Carter. Title track 'Melusine' comes over all retro Blue Velvet-ish and the groove-driven Simon Holloway remixes of 'Melusine' and 'Love Me' give the CD a real Brazilian nightclub feel. Like most of you, I have never been to a Brazilian nightclub - but I'm betting they sound a lot like this. Relish it.
