Well Jan Hellriegel was there, maybe not in the Herald review but she was playing with a full backing band. Hellriegel warmed up the audience with a richer, more satisfactory set than she played at the Gluepot a week before. Initially playing simple keyboard melodies, she moved on to guitar in the latter part of the set, layering four driving guitars together. She belts the songs out, not relying on harmony to convey the passions inherent in her songs. 'Richmond Road Revisited' stood out as did the slower rock edged 'Wings of Steel'. While neither artist on the night was completely caught up in the solo singer-songwriter mould...
