The thinking man's sex symbol - that's how singer-songwriter Jan Hellriegel has been described. Her music is passionate, guitar-driven pop-rock. The self-described Westy Girl (she grew up in Henderson and worked in her dad's panel-beating shop between musical adventures) started off playing in an all-woman band in Dunedin. She moved up to Auckland and was signed to Warner Music, which released her first album, It's My Sin. Her first single from the debut album, titled The Way l Feel, made it to the top of the singles charts. Right now, Jan is in a Melbourne studio working on her new album, to be released early next year.
