Cherub Spring Grove Cemetery
Cincinnati, Ohio

These several photographs can in no way show how beautiful Spring Grove Cemetery truly is. Established in 1845, Spring Grove was designed as both a burial grounds and a sprawling park to which the new crop of rich Cincinnatians could escape the growing city. Since that time not only has the lush vegetation grown to immense size, but so have the monuments. There are inumerable statues, grand monuments, elaborate mausoleums, and towering obelisks, many of which are of the Victorian era. Many fountains and ponds complete with swans scatter through the large cemetery.

Spring Grove is by no means a dead cemetery filled only with monuments from the last century. It is very much alive today. There are large expanses of modern stones and sculpture. This cemetery is by far the most beautiful that I've had the pleasure to visit. Burkhardt
