March 4, 1997 Middle East in Cambridge, MA

We left the house at 6:00 p.m. and went to Strawberry's, so Heidi could buy a ticket. We couldn't get a hold of the guy that we were to meet up with(he had her ticket) Then we bought a disposable camera. After that we decided we try to find that guys house. When we got to his house we listened to music and we left at 9:30 and walked to the T-station. We got off at the stop and walked to the club. When we walked through the door they took our tickets and stamped our hands and put X's on both hands if you were under 21. Doors opened at 8:00 P.M., we missed Portions set and a couple songs by Failure. We went down the stairs. To the right of the stairs was a table where they were selling merchandise. I went over and looked at the stuff. Bought a Local-H shirt, it's black and it had their logo on the front and the back says "Fuck You". Then we hung out by the bar for a couple songs, then I went down into the crowd to watch the rest of Failure. The club holds about 350 people. There were like 4-6 people that were moving and seemed to be fans of Failure. When they played "Stuck on you" they all started singing and dancing. Failure was good. The last song was cool. Jen and I walked up to the front. The people that were right up front against the stage and they left so we moved there. The stage was really low. Stage crew came out and set up the stage. There was no barrier.

The drum set was set up about 7 feet from me. Gabes mike was about 5 feet from me. Scotts was about 8 feet away.

Local H came on at 11:15p.m. Scott and Joe came out took their spots. The ceiling in there were about 12" from Scotts head, I was hoping he wouldn't hit his head on it when he jumped. He noticed that the ceilings were low and he put his hand up and touched the ceiling. He was jumping but I don't think he hit his head. Scott didn't look to happy at first when he came out. The first song was "OK" I took a couple pictures during that song. After the song Scott told us that he was a little congested. And still played the show, what a guy! WAAF was video taping some of their performance (they showed us for only a couple seconds *thank god it wasn't longer* when the show aired). The next song was "Bag of Hammers", "Lovey Dovey", "Fritz's Corner", "Cynic" and "User". In between one of those songs, Scott asked why there was a big gap in the middle of the floor? and told them they can move up. People were moshing but it never reached the front. There was one crowd surfer that made it up front and got on stage.

There was no body guards there. He rose his hands and dove into the audience. The next song was "Manifest Density", "Back in the Day", "Freeze Dried Flies", "Eddie Vedder", "RFTC", "Strict- 9", "Bound for the Floor", "I Saw What You Did" and they ended with "Hi- Fiving- MF".

During the songs Gabe would come out and play the tambourine and sing. Then he'd would run and go behind the speaker and come back out and do it again. Joe kicked ass on drums. Joe through out about 10 drumsticks. The girls that were next to me got 2, I almost caught it but they were very big and got it before me. I tried to reach the set list but it was out of my reach I even climbed on stage to get it, but then one of the stage crew took it and gave it to me. Local H ended at 12:30. On our way out I stopped by the table where they were selling stuff to see what else they were selling.

They were selling Ham Fisted so I bought it actually Jen bought it for my b-day. Then we left. We walked back to the t-station and put our tokens in the machine. Then the guy behind the booth told us there was no more trains coming. We were screwed. There were 9 of us. We went back up to the street and tried to find a cab. non of the cabs would stop to pick us up. We found one cab four people got in that one. There was still 5 of left. Every cab we stopped wouldn't take us because there was 5 and they can only take 4. We finally flagged down a cab. We told the driver if he drives us to Quincy he would get a big tip. So we all got in 3 in the back, 2 in the front, I had to sit up front. First of all the driver started the clock before we even got in. He took all the back roads to Quincy and was driving really slow. Quincy is about 10 minutes from Cambridge. It cost us $26 not including the tip. The guy was a dick, we thanked him and he said "yeah what ever". We gave him $3 for a tip. The people that took the other cab that went to the same place we had gone only cost them $18. We got back in our car. At this time it was 1:oo a.m. We got home at 1:35. Local H ROCKED!! I took 26 pictures of them on stage. I'm gonna try to get some of them up here soon! If anyone wants a real audio sound file of "Fritz's Corner", or "High Fivin MF" performed live at this show, email me and I'll send ya it.
