News April 8th          IRC?

Something is in the upgrade that neither Planet Web nor Sega told us about. What is it? IRC compatibility. It's true. Last night, I explained I went to a Planet Web IRC chat and tested it out. Which at that time, I did not know that I can go to other IRC chat's such as Primenet's (my isp) and Concentric (for the others :). IRC chat stands for Internet Relay Chat which I have no clue what that means. When you enter an IRC chat, your URL bar and everything on top vanishes. Don't worry though! It's supposed to do that. Before you actually go in, it says in the transfer bar, "Mode" then after that, "Joining". Most of the time, you need to wait or ever try numorus times to get in. But it does work for the most part. I have found an IRC chat which is hosted by my ISP (Primenet) that seems to work most of the time. Click this link to get strait there. IRC channel #catholic
Read before entering!-
It will look like you're in a Sega Rally channel when you enter. (channel=room) There will be Dial, Wait, and Main Menu option. Dial and Wait don't do nothing, but Main menu takes you back to Net Link City. It's like "leave chat". You can use the "F4" button to toggle the "Who's on List" on and off. To private someone, highlight their name and then type something. (Hit "enter" to send). To change your handle, before you enter, go to Mail Prefs and change your real name there. Hope this is enough to get you started! Call your ISP up and ask them how to get to their IRC chat and whatever they tell you enter it here: you must always enter this. "pwchat://irc.concentric:6666/#name of channel" or whatever your ISP is. Have fun! You can meet me in the Catholic room. (I'm not cathlic but it's a room!) It turns out, that the IRC chat isn't/wasn't supposed to be accesed or found by us Net Linkers. It's not fully complete says a Sega Rep. Then why the heck is it there? Well, this must be the explination of why trying to an access a channel or IRC chat does not work all the time. It will be in the next upgrade I'm sure. Maybe along with a game? Who knows? Everythings up in the air right now and we all aren't sure of what Sega's next move will be. If IRC isn't working for you all that great, chances are, the channel where you are trying to access is full, or the server is overloaded; there are many reasons why it won't work. So don't get upset at Sega or Planet Web if IRC doesn't work correctly for it is not %100 complete.
Games- Expect a games announcement this week. Due to someone hacking in Sega and finding secret files about Net Link games, Sega had to cut 2 full days off to fix that. We'll see what happens. Keep trying IRC for the time being, I'm sure it will eventually work and all Net Linkers will get a small taste of what's to come!!

Since some of the HTML text disappears while updating long html documents, I have to make several pages such as upgrade2, upgrade3, and upgrade4.html pages so that my page don't erase! I'm working on an archive for news on Net Link which will include all the files for old and new news. They'll be links to here and have the begin/end dates. Oh well....on to Net Link news page 4
