Location:I live in the town of Carterton, in the Wairarapa region of the North
Island of New Zealand. This little hole in the ground is the only place
in the world to have elected a transexual for a mayor. Fairly rural
area, with population around 7000. About 1hrs drive from the
Wellington, the nations capital. We have fire, electiricty, can drink
the tap water and one day soon hope to have the wheel.
What do you do?I'm a student in the seventh form (my senior year) at Chanel College
(we call high schools colleges, and colleges are universitys) which is a
really small school. I'm a disgruntled part time employee at the local
supermarket in the fruit and vege dept. and am seriously underpaid.
How you discovered SGI never really liked Soundgarden until my my friend Graham Appleby
made me like them. I mean this literally. He forced his will onto me,
and made me go to the concert with him last year, but I was hooked after
that concert which was the major turning point in my life so far.
Favourite Album/songs:My favourite album(s) would have to be Superunknown (isn't
everyones?) and Louder than Love. Don't know why exactly, but thery
are. Fav. songs would be Jesus Christ Pose (nuff said) and Head Down.
I love this song so much because it is the one that brings back the most
memories of the concert, so I avoid listening to it too much.
Live Experiences:The strangest thing about the concert was that i was in such awe and
disbelief that it was soundgaren, i can hardly remember it. But as i
said before, when I hear head down, I get a big memory buzz. This also
happens a bit when i hear Blow Up The Outside World too. But one of the
things i remeber was when Chris somes out to the stage and yells,
"Ladies and Gentleman, the electric guitar!" And then explodes into
Spoonman.
Other music I listen to: Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The
Feelers. I forget the rest.
Any Comments:Soundgarden have effected my life in many ways. The most
prodomainant of these would be in my on music *career* as a drummer.
I've just learnt a lot of Matts style of drumming. So any New
Zealanders, look out for me in the 1998 Rockquest.
