How did you discover Soundgarden?:
It all started with seeing 'Rusty Cage' on Beavis and Butthead....what a way to get introduced to Soundgarden. I bought Badmotorfinger (on tape) but I only liked the first two songs :). So I gave up on them for awhile, along the way I got the Temple of the Dog album but I actually was disappointed that Eddie Vedder only had lead vox on one song. I became a fan around the time 'Black Hole Sun' was played every ten minutes, and I bought Superunknown (on tape, again) but again I only liked a few songs (I remember really loving 'Fell on Black Days'). Time passed, and then I heard 'Pretty Noose' a few times on the radio. Yeah, I thought it was a great song, but I never remembered the lyrics (I thought up my own :)). Around the time the radio started playing 'Burden in My Hand' and 'Blow Up the Outside World' I then thought it was time to get Down on the Upside...I loved the album except for 'Applebite' at the time. Then I went backwards and relistened to Badmotorfinger and Superunknown, and then I became a rabid fan.
Favourite Soundgarden album/songs: Down on the Upside....just the whole album is great. Although the track listing could've been better arranged, it's the only one where all the songs appeal to me. The other albums had some songs that weighed down the whole album: Superunknown had 'Half' and 'Spoonman', Badmotorfinger had 'New Damage', Ultramega OK had 'He Didn't' (it's not that bad though), and Louder than Love had...well, quite a bit.
Live Experiences: No....I missed my chance. They need to get back together so I can go see them live....maybe they will someday....
Any other bands you like: There are two other bands that I'm really into and that I'd recommend unconditionally. One is Monster Magnet, they just rock and are a GREAT live band, go pick up Superjudge when you get the chance. The other band is The Cult....if you haven't heard of them, you're missing out...very influential and versatile band (Monster Magnet was influenced by them, BTW). And they're getting back together, so go see them live :). Other bands I like: Pearl Jam, Wellwater Conspiracy, Queens of the Stone Age, Pink Floyd, Garbage, Metallica (though not all the time), and more I can't remember off the top of my head...
Comments: Thanks to the lovely Koggle for putting her hard work into the SOMMS directory, great way to keep the community together :). And I like pickles (R.I.P. The Conspiracy's Soundgarden MP3 site).
