Maria Joseph

Name:I just prefer you to call me Maria.. I mean, that's my name, I like it for the most part, and it's easy for me to remember just in case someone is talkin' to me. BUT, if I could have crawled outta my mom before my dad and her had that little talk, I'd tell them that I want to be named Cameron... but life isn't all that, right?

Email:CameronJCP@aol.com

Age:16

Location: I live in a pretty stellar apartment in Reisterstown, Maryland. Reisterstown is located in Baltimore County, so you can just say that I live in Baltimore to make it easy..but I really live in Reisterstown. The suburbs kinda suck, but it's still ok sometimes....

What I do: I am a Sophomore at Franklin High School, which is a very kick ass school and I'm proud to be one of the several Soundgarden fans at my school, to be estatic to represent and shout out their names to the world. There are people in my school that love SG, but they just wear a patch on their bookbags (I can think of one person actually..not me), so I dunno... I also put Soundgarden into the music curriculum at school.. it was very successful :)

SG discovery story:Good question.. how did I first recognize these seductive, opinionated dudes? Hmmm... well if I think back, I really began to like music or listen to the radio when I first got cable which was around '95 or mid '94.. I remember MTV and stuff and I started listenin' to the radio. I have no specific memories of Soundgarden or how I liked them, but I just remembered Chris Cornell and the fact that I thought they were really stellar at the time. In the summer of '96, I began to hear more about the guys and hear more songs from them, which made me remember that they were out there and that I respected them. It made me wanna find out what was goin' on with them. I was still searching for my fave band, after claiming Green Day and STP, and I decided to listen to more Soundgarden.. I had remembered a scene in the BHS video, but didn't have a clue to actually watching it. So my journey began to buy a SG album in late '97. My first Soundgarden albums were DOTUS and SU because I got them both on X-Mas along with a poster. In November I was set that SG had to be my fave band.. and that thought has expanded.. I also remember that I thought Chris was a cute guy, but it didn't go any further till later...of course now I am a Matt Hootchie so, things have incredibly changed.

Favourite SG Album/Songs:It's hard to say, but my fave album might be a tie between Screaming Life, Down on the Upside, Superunknown, and FOPP, just because of the diversity.. You might as well include BMF and UMOK in there.. I love them all.. I don't know my fave album.. I love them all for different reasons, like one is heavier, one is stranger, or whatever, but it changes... As for fave song... oh boy, as for the ones on the albums, Seaching With My Good Eye Closed (esp. like it live), Fresh Tendrils, Pretty Noose, Nothing to Say, Blow Up the Outside World, and one more....uh...FOPP.. I like their songs for many reasons, like because of the pickup in the beginning or I like the solo or the vocals seem extra touchy for me, etc.. ex. Never the Machine Forever - the pickup in the beginning ; Spoonman - Ben on vocals and the spoons kicked ass ; Flower - bass riffs ; BHS - the slow sorta draggin' vocals and the way it switches in the speakers ; Boot Camp - the calmness...etc... My fave covers and B-Sides are Come Together, Touch Me, Karaoke, Bleed Together, and She Likes Surprises..just to name 5..

Live Experience:My first "experience" would be the recent Matt Chat.. I tried the whole Vancouver thing, but my parents are like "Get real." If you guys didn't make the chat, you must check out the transcript! I can now say that I have a live experience, per say.. This past Friday (Sept. 18, 1998) Pearl Jam performed here, so I saw them. And I count it close enough to a Soundgarden experience cause Matt was drumming for the guys!!

Other bands I like:I am interested in: bands of SG, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Creed, Jimmies Chicken Shack (Maryland band), AIC, I think I still like STP, uh.. Radiohead, Green Day I think I still do..Filter, Hole's ok..so is that one Bush song "In A Lonely Place", Aerosmith, a few Nirvana songs esp. In Bloom, Sublime's not bad at all, neither's Korn..I dunno whom else..just basically the 1st 4 plus Radiohead.. I WAS into: (this was when I was still adjusting to the radio and cable) Alanis Morisette (what the hell was I...), Michael Jackson, those guys that sang Breakfast At Tiffany's and all those other Goo Goo Dolls-type musicians..I think that's called Pop Alternative or something... But if you wanna know about my whole music background, ask and I'll write you up a few pages..

Any Comments:First I'd like to say that I LOVE MATT CAMERON WITH ALL MY HEART!!! His "drum love makin'" inspired me to take a stab at drumming/percussion after playing clarinet for 6 years.. plus he's a hottie, but it doesn't matter, I love 'im anyways!! 2nd, I wanna move permanently to Seattle when I graduate high school to go to college there.. it may be early but I've looked at possible colleges I could go to to learn more about the music biz.. I wanna produce some kick ass albums. Seattle because I was hopin just to attend U of W, I've checked out the campus and it kix ass, plus I can check out some sites and stalk, I mean look for, Matt :* 3rd, I wanna give a shout out to my home grl Dezhy, my kuz Scott, Graham (my appetizer with cheese), all my SOMMS buds around the cyber joint. And two of my ultimate, or intimate, dreams for Matt is to be a M&M or a Lays. If it's too long, sorry guys, my finger slipped again..
