During my next week, my life was quite boring and included nothing out of the ordinary. It was the last week of school, before the middle of the year, with the two week holiday here.

On Saturday, I received a call from Beth. She is the only person who ever calls me. Even so, that only occurs on rare occassions. The telephone conversation proceded as follows:

Me: Hello?
Beth: Hey Gabbi, it's me, Beth. Anyway I persuaded Candice into letting you come with us.
Me: Thanks, but where are we going?
Beth: Go-carting with Ike, Tay and Zac.
Me: Ok, cool.
Beth: We're meeting at Candice's place. Can you try to get there really quick. That's why i called you since it's quicker than walking to 'your house' (*A.N. Incase you forgot, Gabbi lives in a children's home*)
Me: Ok I'll be there.
Beth: Yeah, seeya then
Me: Bye.

With that, I put the phone receiver down softly and ran up the stairs to my room. I shoved on my cap and grabbed my monthly savings, a lousy ten buck note.

Making sure no one was watching, I tried to slide down the stair 'rail'. The people on T.V. made it seem so easy!!! When I ATTEMPTED to slide down i found it really uncomfortable and now my butt hurt. (*A.N. hehehe I couldn't help it. I had to put it in my story.*)

I jogged out of the building and made my way to Candice's house, which wasn't too far away. I got there within five minutes.

When I knowcked on the door, Mr Ramdon (Candices dad) answered. I reckon that Mr Ramdon is really nice! He always looks happy and hardly ever gets angry. I've always admired him.

"Hi Gabbi!! Come on it. The others are already in the lounge," Mr Ramdon greeted. I smiled and said, "Thanks Mr Ramdon."

Isaac, Taylor, Zachary, Candice and Beth were waiting for me, in the lounge just as Mr Ramdon had told me earlier.

"Nice of you to finally show up," said Candice, piercing me with her cold eyes. I didn't think I took that long, what was she talking about? But I didn't say that of course. What I did say was, "Hi everyone...uh, sorry I'm late."

After everone excluding Candice chorused a 'Hi Gabbi', Beth said, "You don't have to be sorry because you're not late." While she said this, she looked at Candice questioningly.

Candice just smiled and stated honestly, " I was only joking. " Everybody seemed to believe her lame excuse and accept her innosence, but I knew better. Under Candice's perfect mask, she was as evil as anything to those who didn't suit her expectations, on looks, wealth and popularity. Apparently, in those three catagories, I failed her judgement test. Even so, I didn't really care. Even if I was a beautiful, popular millionaire and she begged me to be her true friend, I would refuse and to her and only her, I would act like how she does to me. That'll give her a taste of her own medicine.

A bit of silence followed until Zac asked quite loudly, "Well, what are we waiting for? Let BOOGIE!" That was exactly what we did. Isaac said he didn't feel like driving and everyone else decided that a taxi would be too squishy. We ended up going on a dented bus covered with chipped paint that was peeling.

Popstars eh? Then I stopped myself from thinking like that. I remembered reading in some magazine that they (Hanson) said that they try not to let their fame and fortune effect their life. I guess they were telling the truth.

The bus was practically empty. Only a lone, stressed-looking woman in a business suit. We climbed onto the bus as happy, noisy teenagers, but staggered off it as sick ones. The drive was wobbly. The driver wasn't reckless or anything, but stayed in the same lane and swayed left, then right, left, right, left....etc. I could tell that everyone was glad to get off!

They bus left us right infront of the go-cart open air arena. I walked behind the group of five because I felt as if I didn't belong with them. After all, I was the odd one out in so many ways. There was a conversation going, ahead of me from which I wasn't participating. I was barely listening, just walking and studying the marvel of shoes.

Getting into a mini red go cart, I fastened a heavy helmet on my head (*AN I have never been go-carting so try to bare with me. Thanks *) Everyone excluding Taylor got a great start. His cart had a acceleration problem. It made loud, gruesome noises and was as slow was as a kiddy merry-go-round. It was quite funny to watch because when we lapped him, he became frustrated.

That was when he abandon his green on and went towards a white one that nobody was using. He caught up to us pretty quick and with ease. Soon our driving time was over.

Incidently, before the end, Candice, Isaac and I were riding really close. We must have had the same idea, to take over the other two, at that particular moment...we collided. The funny part was that Candice got her hair somehow stuck on Isaac's cart. Beth, Taylor and Zac came to help get it 'un-stuck', which attracted a crowd.

Finally when her hair gave way, there definately was a site to see. Candice looked very un-Candice-like. Her beloved hair was all messed up. For once she looked embarrassed and her eyes lost that look of pride. And for a second....just for a second I felt sorry for her.

Actually it was only for a milli-second, because of all the following. Candice put on a deliberate annoyed face and mumbled, but she made sure everyone could still hear it quite clearly, "....totally Gabbi's fault again..." Here we go once more! Blame everything on the 'fully responsible' me. Isaac gave me a look that 'said' 'don't worry, it wasn't your fault.' I smiled but inside - for some reason unknown to me, I felt worse.

I just stood there for a minute, while everybody fussed over Candice, thinking. I guess you could call it daydreaming because I wasn't aware of what everybody was doing around me.
