OLD NEWS

May 5th, 2006

Well...I have decided to slightly revamp this page as you can see. Nothing too special...just a bit more user friendly. As well, I'm now sold out of the Break The Cycle LP...but they may be going up for sale at http://www.divorcerecords.ca/. Still have the split w/ existench. you can even buy that at CDplus on Barrington St. (well when i drop some more off you can)

April 29th, 2004

Again not much to report. I still have about 10 copies of the Chitz break the cycle LP left as well as some split 7"s w/ existench. i've also recently converted everything we ever released in mp3s. Also tonight i was watching a video of the last Chitz show in 1997..pretty entertaining really..most people in it are long gone but a few are still around.. hrmm...i guess thats it for now. bye!

Dec. 14th, 2002

I have no Chitz news at all...but I felt I should write something here anyway. so...yeah...hmmm. Bye.

April 8th, 2002

So yeah....The Chitz played their reunion show back there in December. Many old faces that i hadn't seen a quite sometime. It was a fun time for all i do believe. Lots of kids up front singing along. I think everyone got along for a change. We played 2 new songs that were i suppose well received....it's doubtful they will ever be recorded but oh well. Not much else to say. See you at the next reunion in 5 years or whatever. bye.

You may have heard rumours of a Chitz reunion show....and they are true. The confirmed date is , Saturday, December 1st, 2001 @ The Pavilion in Halifax. Also playing are Envision and A/V. Our good friend Meghan is going away and this was her last wish. Richard will not be partaking in this event so part time Chitz guy Louie will be taking over on bass and Ian will switch to guitar duties. Please keep in mind we are all much older and things have changed in the 4 years since we broke up...this is just for fun and I hope you all decide to show up. thanks!

Well...there's not much news for the Chitz. none really...I just thought I should write something here. Oh...Envision (featuring ex-chitz members) covered the Chitz song Reactionary at a show the other week....it would have been good if I knew the words.

There is a new compilation CD out on Point Blank Records featuring THE CHITZ, Equation Of State, Falling Sickness, Planet Smashers, Youth Brigade and many more. Soon we should have some copies for sale

The brand new Chitz/Existench split 7" is now out. It has three unreleasd Chitz songs. You can buy it at shows or you can email me for one. They are $3 in person.....$4ppd.
sorry i never update this page...but what else is there to say?

By the way...if you didn't go to the Braid show in August, you are an idiot and I hate you....it was in fact the best show of the summer(in my opinion anyway) You better have a damn good excuse for not being there and supporting your scene and out of town bands. For shame! OK...that is all.

Equation of State embark on their big tour the next day(assuming their stupid van doesn't break down). The BRAND NEW EOS webpage is up now...sorta. If anyone can help me make it not horribly bad please let me know. By the way...the Fugazi show was amazing!! Let's hope we can get more bands like that to play here. Oh yeah..rumor has it that The Misfits are playing here. Oh goody....won't that be fun..hmmm. Ok...that is all for now. If you "people" don't start to sign the guestbook soon there will be...trouble. There's lots of info in the guestbook too, so at least read it. Oh yeah...this page has now had over 1400 hits! oh joy!! uhm...bye?

July 11th, 1998 So it looks like The Chitz will be doing a final release - a split 7" with Exsistench. Three brand new Chitz songs that were recorded a few months ago. I'm not sure when it'll be out but you'll be the first to know! Also, I had to pay $95 to replace that plexiglass. I think I'll offer a reward for the disembowled body of the person responsible...hmmm...how does $2 sound?

MAY 23, 1998 OK, it's all over. The Chitz are now no more. The show was a great success. We were able to raise over $400 for Food Not Bombs and some other yet to be determined charities. It could have been more but it looks like I'm goona have to shell out $100 to replace broken plexiglass. If anyone knows who kicked it in, let me know. Revenge will be swift and harsh!! Well, maybe not. Or if anyone knows where to get cheap plexiglass(1/4 inch thick, 6 feet by 32 1/2 inches)let me know(it can be flawed or scratched too). But other than that, it went really well. It was so good to see FYM again.
In other news, Halifax's all-ages club is opening this weekend. It's called the Pavilion and it's on the Commons. Tonight's lineup is The Smashers, The Killer Bees, Led By Regret, Equation Of State and Existench. Coming in the near future: Chixdiggit - Sunday,June 7th at the Pavilion(this is not confirmed yet)........Submission Hold (from BC), Equation Of State and North Of America - June 13th at The Pavilion......NO MEANS NO and Equation of State in Bridgewater, NS on June 18??? Stay tuned for details. That it for now. Thanks to everyone who came to the show and supported The Chitz for the last 5 years. Keep supporting your scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAY 12, 1998 The last Chitz show will take place on SATURDAY MAY 16TH!!!! Please note, it will not be at the new Cafe Ole!!!It will be happening at The Playhouse, located at 2248 Maitland St., off of Cornwallis St. The cost is $5, doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30. Of course it's all-ages. The line up is: The Chitz(duh), The Bombscares, Snot Party, FYM!!and Sloth. It'll be a Food Not Bombs benefit as well! You can call me (Ian) at 420-0362 for more info. Thanks. By the way, why won't you people sign the guestbook? You make me sad. Oh well...

APRIL 25, 1998 Well, here's the scoop. Derrick is moving away to Saskatoon, so The Chitz will be breaking up. There will be a final show around the middle of May 1998. I hope you can all go to it. It will also be the final Bombscares show as well. I'm not sure of the exact date or location as of yet (it'll probably be at the new Cafe Ole) Check back here for updates in the coming weeks. I'd like to thank eveyone who has supported us over the years. I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep this page running or not. Let me know what you folks think by signing the guestbook or emailing me. In any case, I'm gonna start a Halifax Hardcore page. Once again, I hope you can check out the final show, whenever it may be.

I guess you don't appreciate something until is gone. See ya..

The Chitz also have some stuff coming out on compilations in Montreal including a CD being done by Underworld Records. Other bands rumored to be on it are Assorted Jellybeans, Piebald, Jesuit and AVAIL!! We'll just have to see if that's true. Some possible Chitz shows in the near future include Truro on Feb 21 and Fredericton and Sydney, Cape Breton in March. Want us to play where you live? Get in touch and we'll play there. Well, I guess that is all for now. Enjoy your life and all that.

2/1/98: One of the funnest shows took place tonight here in Halifax It was in some dork's bedroom and it was packed (people from Bridgewater, Truro and Cape Breton were there!) and sweaty. Bands that played were Existench, The Rideouts, Led By Regret, The Deepthroats, Snot Party, Reason Within, Ritlan, NegativeTrend (from Truro),Falling Out, and The Chitz. Floorpunch mania! haha. If you were there, give your comments in the damn guestbook. In other news, Chitz/Moaning Lisas split 7"s are back in stock but will be gone very soon. Email me for any merchandise info. ok that's all fer now, pals!
