Damaged began in 1989 in the gold mining town of Ballarat, Australia. It all started when the first guitarist, Jarrod, was walking home one day and whilst walking past a garage, he heard Matt "Skitz"(current drummer) practising drums. He approached Matt about starting a metal band and Matt willfully agreed.

Jarrod soon left Damaged and was replaced by a fella called Paul and a second guitarist was recruited, his name was Mat Silcock. He introduced Jaymi (current vocalist) to play bass, however, Jaymi was not such a great bass player so he ended singing instead and they got Jason Parker "Mowhawke" (current bassist) to join. They started playing gigs in their hometown and got their home fanbase on the rise.

Paul lost interest in playing with Damaged and they were soon out to find someone new. This new someone was found, his name, Chris Hill "Hilly". In 1992, Damaged recorded their debut demo called "The Art of Destroying Life" which was mainly distributed in Australia. It sold it's printed copies and is quite sought after even now when their music has progressed greatly.

In 1993, they relocated to Melbourne and recorded their debut CD "Do Not Spit". This album brought them to the forefront of Australian metal and secured a lot of support from the underground scene. Not only did Damaged appeal to the metal crowd, they crossed over into the alternative and hardcore scene from playing with various styled bands like The Meanies, The Hard-Ons and Spiderbait to Bolt Thrower and Fear Factory.

In 1994, they released a video clip which was funded by the Traffic Accident Commission. It was recorded in their hometown Ballarat and was aired on Australian music programs like Rage and Galaxy's Pedal to the Metal and also on overseas metal programs. Damaged toured Australia towards the end of '94 in support of "Do Not Spit" which has sold inexcess of 3000 copies.

In 1995, Damaged recorded and released the "Passive Backseat Demon Engines" EP and also the "Passive Backseat Demon Engines" 7", which features 3 tracks off the EP. They supported Cannibal Corpse in early '95 but were finding things were starting to fall apart with Jaymi. Pretty soon, Jaymi left the band and Damaged were left singerless. By August, they found youngster Chris Wallace (an avid Damaged fan) to do vocals. After many rehearsals and much touring, they recorded a promo tape to look for a record deal. However, after all the promo packs had been sent out, troubles within the band started again and Damaged ended up dead, but only after winning Australia's only metal magazine, Hot Metal's Best Death Metal band, Single Cover, Heavy Music Awards.

Not long after Damaged broke up, a reply came from US label
ROTTEN RECORDS who were interested in signing Damaged for a 5 album deal. Pretty soon the band got back together, minus guitarist Mat and with Jaymi back on vocals and before long, new Damaged songs were written. In July of '97, "Token Remedies Research" was recorded and engineered by D.R.I.'s guitarist,Spike Cassidy. "Token..." was released in late October '97 and has since stayed in the top 30 Australian Heavy Music Charts for over 7 months. So if you haven't checked out Damaged yet, you better get to it!

Here's some recent news. Jaymi just ain't in the band anymore. Let's just say it had something to do with personality clashes. People in Sydney were treated to a "once in a lifetime" instrumental gig at The Iron Duke on Saturday the 21st of March. Some people were left a bit awed with no Jaymi but I think it didn't really matter too much. In my own opinion it was just a good opportunity to hear exactly how tight Damaged's music really is.

Here's the absolute latest news!!! After briefly acquiring a vocalist in the form of Rick (from Melbourne based Beanflipper), Rick has now gone the way of the dodo (well, he's not dead, just gone from the band) boo hoo!! Spunky Rick has been replaced by a bloke called Brendan who is the vocalist from a great Australian melodic death metal band called Earth. Mowhawke has also decided to leave the band (very unfortuneately! He's a good fella!) on pursuit of a good time in the US with his loved ones. He has also been replaced by a very nice person called Jason.

With three new songs already written, Damaged are back on the road to aural destruction via a new album and possible tours. The new album will be called, "Purified in Pain", so keep an eye on it! Write to Damaged's snail mail address for new merchandise: PO Box 799, Brunswick Lower, VIC 3056
