My Life

It's about time I updated my life. Yes, the winds of change are beginning to blow...another chapter of my life begins.

Hello. I like to snowboard, play pool, listen to music, play music, watch movies, do web stuff, buy things, paint walls, drink wine, and read. Not that I actually manage to read a lot. But in theory, I enjoy it.

I just graduated (with "Great Distinction"!) with a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Marketing. And then they unleash people like me, unprepared, diapers wet, and not actually smarter, upon the world. To make a change, to be productive members of society, to get real haircuts, to wake up early in the morning, until retirement. However! I, like so many of my peers, have found a way to get around this! I will go BACK TO SCHOOL. Yeah. I bit my nails and waited with itchy feet until my last day of school (hurrah!) and then decided to return to the shelter of an educational institution.

I play the flute, electric and accoustic guitar, and the piano. I'm a genius, I know. Actually no. If I was a genius I'd be able to play them all half decently. As to what I listen to, you may combine any two of the following five words: alt, indie, pop, rock, folk. Oh heck, combine three or four! I love rock alt pop folk. See, it's a fun game.

I hate beer. I could never learn to like it. It makes me gag.

This summer I worked at ConsulPRO Executive Search again, which is a recruitment firm sort of downtown-ish Ottawa. I learned a lot about running a business and how to do stuff with computers when they're being stupid. I'm still maintaining their webpage for now, and if you care to look it's at [www.consulpro.ca]. Word. It was totally revamped this summer and it is so beautiful it makes me weep.

There is a much better "bio" on Face In A Crowd v2.0. Go there. You will be impressed. Unless you don't have MSIE 5.0 (I think?), in which case you will miss out on a lot.

School

McGill University is situated in Montreal, Canada, one of the coolest cities in the country. It is a very prestigious university. It has been called the "Harvard of Canada" by a Princeton paper. Ha! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Queen's!

My first year was pretty good, except for the whole drop-10%-in-average thing. Which is to be expected. First term was a breeze, and I loved it. Second term was kind of ugly, since that was when I actually started management courses. I failed my last exam with flying colours. I am ashamed, but I hated the course anyway. Second year was uglier than first year, especially one course in particular, Macroeconomic Policy. Yeah that almost cost me my scholarship, and it would have had the class average not been bell curved up 15%. The final was worth 100%. It was so very ugly.

Third year has been the best so far. I've had some of the best profs yet, but there is always the delinquent here and there. And the word 'stress' is being redefined every year. This semester I'm taking Operations Research, Operations Management, International Business, Consumer Behaviour, and Finance I. Next semester will likely be Marketing Management II, Marketing Research (a night class! ugh!), Social Context of Business, Managing Small Enterprises and...The Evolving Earth.

So if you get a phone call in a few years, and someone's trying to sell you something at dinner time and you're thoroughly annoyed yet you find the voice strangely familiar, it's because it'll be me. So be nice and buy something, because I likely won't have enough money to feed myself if you don't.
