THIS PAGE IS STILL BEING DESTRUCTED.
THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!

I wasn't familiar with many of the eight Japanese bands featured on the Kill `Em All Fakin' Metals 2 compilation when I ordered it from Denis at Sentinel Steel. In fact, the only band that I had heard of before was Guardian's Nail. As I soon discovered, all eight bands were terrific. Blasdead's tune "Useless Soldiers" immediately caught my ear with its massive amounts of speed and melody, and I was lucky enough to find the band's full-length disc at Disk Heaven in Nagoya. I fired off a letter to the band at the address listed in the CD's liner notes, and I was delighted when Yoshio sent me a fax back! So BIG thanks to Yoshio for hooking me up with the information and photo on this page, and also for the demo tapes of Blasdead's pre-CD material. And thanks to the guys in Blasdead for making such amazing music! Check `em out!!

Band History
Blasdead has been around for nearly 10 years, ever since guitarist Shoji Yasuno formed the band in June 1990 in Yokohama-city. The band’s powerful live performances and high-energy concerts quickly established Blasdead in the local metal scene. After changing vocalists in 1991, the band released its first demo tape in July 1992, which was offered free to the band’s loyal following. The second demo tape was released the following March and sold quite a few copies. But even though the band was growing in popularity, the vocalist, drummer and bassist had all quit the band by March 1994, leaving Yasuno to keep Blasdead alive on his own.

By January 1995 Blasdead was back, with new members and new music. The band’s third demo tape was released in May and generated interest from Japanese indie label Lard Records. After contributing an unreleased track to the Lard compilation Initiation in November 1995, Blasdead was set to unveil its debut CD. Another Dimension was released in July 1996, a solid slab of melodic speed metal that included new versions of selected demo tracks plus some killer new material.

With one CD under its belt, Blasdead took their tunes on the road and toured extensively across Japan. In 1997, however, the band parted ways with vocalist Jeff Rowe and had to suspend its activities while searching for a suitable replacement. After auditioning numerous candidates for the vocal slot, Blasdead was finally complete again in 1998 as Shuji Izaki became the new singer. Unfortunately, in the meantime, Lard Records had closed its doors, leaving Blasdead with no record label for their next release.

The band is currently seeking a new deal and is recording a promotional demo to shop to local record labels.

News and Current Happenings
Blasdead is (hopefully) putting the finishing touches on its fourth demo tape. The demo will be used to secure a new record deal for the band.

In the meantime, the band is keeping busy with gigs and performances at local clubs. For example, Blasdead recently appeared at the Kichijoji Crescendo with three other excellent Japanese metal acts.....Vigilante, Zero Gravity and L`Evoluzione.

Sounds
Here's a clip from Blasdead's debut disc and from one of their comp tracks. These brief samples should give you an idea of how righteous this band is. Note that all tracks feature vocals by Jeff Rowe, who has since left the band. I have not heard any material that features Shuji on vocals, but I hope to hear some new Blasdead music soon!
